Small bookshelf speakers

Small black bookshelfs. Could be anywhere from $50 to $400. Just looking to upgrade from the really poor boston CR4s I have now. They just need to be small. Like 10x6x8 range or smaller. Even RT15is are really pushing how much space I have for them.

I've been searching around for what my options even are and come across a few brands I never heard of before. Role Audio was one brand that looked interesting. If no one has any to sell, any suggestions?

I know, I know, another "which bookshelf speakers should I buy post?", sorry.

Not a Klipsch fan and those totally blow the required dimensions anyway. I can't get Doro's totems out of my mind, but with adding grills, I'm worried about the total cost and possibly destroying any resale value they might have.

Any other ideas or things laying around?

Don't get the grills. I bet the wood finish on those totems rivals any coffee table or antique chair your wife has! She will bless the day you bought the totems and preserved the aesthetics of your home.

Or . . . you could just tell her that you've made the effort to please her and this is the best it's gonna get. Tell her what's what :)

Well I don't want to crap on Doro's thread anymore, so I'll crap on my own. There's a bit of a price issue as well. It's one thing to bring something home for $100 and have her say WTH are those. Quite another when it's pushing $500. Not that they're not worth it, because they would be to me, just not to her. I always try to tell her that spending more on quality equipment is actually better than spending money on cheaper stuff because it retains its value better. She understands that much, but then retreats to "Yes, but why do we need it at all." Timing is everything too, like I said, I'm only about 15 days out from showing up with the RTi10's and CSi5.... I can't be the only one in this boat here am I?

Interesting find on the Jamos, I'm not familiar with that speaker. But seriously, both RTi6 and Jamo 603's are way too big. I'm talking 10x6x8 max +/- an inch in maybe one dimension.

If your wife is going to be that particular about speakers then I suggest you fix that problem before investing anything into this hobby.

"Why do you need it at all?" - "Baby, because I got some spare cash and I want to enjoy some tunes." That should be reason enough?

Does she own the house and everything in it? Does she pay all the bills? Your trepidations are just pissing me off. No woman is worth enduring that kind of inflexibility. Any relationship with that kind of dynamic is not healthy.
