I'm thinking about putting one sub inside each of the cabinets (behind the speakers) firing outward.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

If you're using the golden cubiod, then there should be plenty of room between your rears and the cabinets. IMO, placing them in the cabinets is a bad idea.

Hell, yeah!!!! The golden cubiod works! I love it.

The downside is -- the cubiod requires the speakers to be placed well into the room. This means I gotta move them every time I want to do some critical listening to music. It's a small inconvenience, though.

Dedicate the room as a music room and put them where they sound the best?

WAF issues nix that idea. The den is where family and friends converge. It's no problem at all. I actually like moving the speakers in place. It's quickly becoming part of the "I'm preparing myself to listen to music" ritual.

You're probably right. I decided not to install the stereo subs initially. I want to set everything up first. I'll need another week or so.

Just wondering, what is a "Den" meant to be used for?

In my house, the den is WAF territory. I had a 2-channel system set up in another room that was impervious to WAF, but dismantled it because it sounds better in the den. Life is an endless set of compromises.

I'll admit, my wife was right on the money with this re-arrangement. The change in speaker placement has been a tremendous improvement. Just need one more thing -- a 2-channel peamp and I'll be in hog heaven.:p
