Monitor 50's as surrounds with rti series?
Just as the title states.. I have some brand new monitor 50's that I was going to use in my new house for the music room but I won't be able to hang up my rti4's for surrounds on the walls like I had planned so I would need stands. I have rti6's and a csi3 in the front I think rti4's will do just as good with music as the 50's and vise versa anyone every done this?

Well I see no one has done or heard of this so I'll try it and get back to you on the outcome.
We'll forget about surrounds right now and concentrate on the music aspect of it. I have a music only room and I don't have a sub for it YET, soooo with a sub coming into the picture eventually which would be better for music the monitor 50's or rti4's? A HK3385 will be pushing them. -

How come you can't hang the RTI4s up as surrounds?
I have RTI4s as the fronts and rear surrounds(and I also have the CSi3 center) - works quite well, imo.
My RTI4s are ceiling mounted in the rear above my couch. For HT, it is, acceptable with good results.
I normally go 'pure direct' when going 2 channel for music listening and rear surrounds don't really get that much of a work out for HT anyway.
If I had to choose between the RTi4s or the 50s - I'd use the RTI4s in the front and the 50s in the back - not the other way around - but that's just me.

I used Monitor 30s with RTi6 fronts and they performed admirably as surrounds. You should have no problems. I also prefer the RTis for music; the monitor series image like mad but there's a lot of chestiness in the male vocal range that reminds you they're not a pricy speakers. The RTis are nearly uncolored if a tad lively and bright. Depending on your bias, that might be a great thing.Currently listening to:

Oh yeah, you should put the 50s on boxes or stands of some kind to get the tweeters a few feet above your ears. Otherwise, they run the risk of overpowering your fronts.Currently listening to:
