I'm just going to throw this out there.

The past few days, I got tired of Carl's crap. We all know what and why he does it so that doesn't need any more comment. The oxygen/fire analogy is, for the most part, correct. I should have just ignored it.

While I stand by the intent of what I said, I should have not taken the bait.

So this is what I ask, take a deep breath and realize in the grand scheme of things, Carl is not worth the hassle.

The mods/Justin/Al et al. DO yeoman's work keeping this place sane and I, and the rest of you, should commend them for that. Big picture is that this is STILL the best place to hang out.

I've had a bad few days, personal stuff, I'm just tired of being away from home, that sort of thing and I let it get out of hand. Again, I don't say that for sympathy or as an excuse but it is what it is. I let that bleed over into the forum and I should have known better. I should have just put Carl on ignore and pressed on. Nor, Carl, should you take this that I retract any of my feelings about you, what you do and why you do it. I just shouldn't have taken the bait.

All I'm saying is let's not let a couple of knuckleheads torpedo the forum as we know it. That's letting the morons win. The forum itself, is not a given nor should we take it for granted. I for one, am going to do a better job of making it a reflection on what I want it to be (which I've neglected by not being as involved).

That's my .02

Nicely said Troy.... something there we should all learn from... this forum isn't the end all to be all.. it has it's purpose.. but once in a while.. it's time to chill out and let some topics just move along without stirring the pot.

I don't know the topic or who Carl is.. so i'm out. Even though I am member of the frequent posters club ;) I stay away from most heavy topics.

Troy, it takes a man to stand up and post up something like that, but I don't believe you need to apologize for anything since a majority of the forum feels the same way you do.

I love this apology thread where you knock the guy the entire time keeping this monkey poo flinging alive and well.

He's been on my ignore list for a long time. It got to the point where there was not even any "entertainment value" reading his posts (you know...after you watch a guy stick a pencil in his eye for the 50th time, it's just not much fun to watch anymore) and I really had no interest in what he had to say about anything. My ignore list is fairly lengthy...however...it is interesting that it doesn't crop up much anymore because most of "those on the list" tend to fade away after a time. The ignore feature really is your friend.

I saw the thread you responded to...since there was the stuff I couldn't read...it didn't matter what you were posting...but I did report the tread because mr. toughguy 6' 340# **** used the word **** several times...and that is just not a word or sentiment that should be allowed.

Troy you always take the high road even when you don't need to. As far as I'm concerned you didn't need to start this thread or apologize.

The bait is always laid out there for us and when we take we get the lectures and all the boo hoo for telling it like it is.

This is a forum/club with lots of personalities! There are bound to be disagreements and arguements . . . that can't be helped. If this is to be a perfect forum then Polk should have robots as customers and not passionate audio/video philes.

And Carl just for what you posted above, I think you proved yourself to be a jackass.

As if we needed more proof.

Troy, you da' man! I thought for a second that when I started to read your post that you would be saying goodbye. I'm glad that you didn't. I really don't think it is you who should be apologizing and maybe that person will chime in and man up as well. If not..........well I'll leave my opinion to myself.

Why they just don't ban him is beyond me, but that's their choice. In fact, why they let him come back is beyond me. It would be like letting rskarvan start posting again. What's the point? Oh well, it's not my decision to make.

I for one, actually enjoy your rants. Especially the one about the dichotomy of our hobby. Those kinds of threads is what makes this forum a great place to hang and I'd like to thank you for contributing valuable banter like that.

Oh, I hope that the stress level gets better for you or at least that your days are a little better. Take care bro'.

No need to apologize. Just another case of the minority ruling the majority.

Troy, I have never met you but I really admire and respect a person that takes responsibility and is 100% accountable. Hell, we all say things in haste – Guilty as charged here your Honor. I agree you did not have to do this but the fact that you did shows pure guts. I respect that. Carry on Sir.

    Next!

    Man up for once Carl.

I'm having a great day and I recommend the rest of you do the same. If there's something in my life I don't like, I try to change it and if I can't, I try to make damn sure I don't take it out on someone else or blame someone else for my unhappiness (i.e. I'm not going to get entangled in anyone else's personal problems or issues. I have plenty of my own health issues to worry about).

    Troy, it happens.

Everyone (never thought I would say it OVER AND OVER) - Grow up. The Trolls and old timers both are spoiling it for the rest of the group. I'll quote part of an email received from a relative newbie regarding the recent debacle. I chose it, because it hit home with me, but these types of emails are becoming more and more frequent - as much for Trolls and for long term, participating (REALLY participating) key members.

" I think it also needs to be pointed out that while someone's posts can be annoying, they are not necessarily the most offensive. There are many posts -- even many initiated by the "core" -- that tread that slippery slope of political opinion and that easily can be construed as offensive (i.e. 'too bad we can't legally hunt liberals...."). I've decided that that is the nature of the beast. I didn't come here to learn about or discuss politics, so I turn another cheek, ignore the ludicrous statements, and try to focus on the audio side of things. My point it not black and white as they would have it some members are not in and of themselves the root of all evil.

Finally, I think the charge that any one member gives poor advice and that they are misleading all newbies is a spurious one. Yes, they may be giving bad advice but there are many sources of bad advice/misinformation on this forum. They don't have a monopoly on that. So this is just an ad hominem attack, plain and simple. Second, if I'm a newbie and I come with question and listen to a single guy's opinion and act on it without considering the advice of others, do my own research, etc. then I'm an idiot and I deserve to get duped.

I didn't want to add to the thread, because these so-called "core" guys can be pretty vicious. I'm fairly new here, but I have a sense of how they think. They would see me as taking a side and being antagonistic/hostile toward them. Though they wouldn't admit it, they think they've earned a certain gravitas over the years and that anyone operating outside of them, or who doesn't aspire to join in the "inner sanctum", is in effect an outsider -and the rest of us here are just passing through for the ride. Thats a subtle yet clear and underlying message that gets conveyed unwittingly from time to time. But of course its inconsistent with the spirit of an open forum such as Club Polk."

    end quote

Why do we keep ending up 'here' every couple of months? Do the troops need another motivational post from Al? It's getting old.

Polkfest is approaching, lets ramp up in a postive fashion. Viva Club Polk.
