Wall Mounting RTi4?
due to increased spousal acceptance factor, i am considering using a pair of wall mounted rti4 speakers for my fronts instead of towers.
i have a csi25 center, and some stupid sony surround speakers that will be replaced in the near future.
so will the wall mounting make a difference in how they sound? i have heard them sitting on cabinets, and it was quite the rockin out session.
will the rti4 work for a medium/small 80% home theater / 20% music room.
i had intended to get r50's last week, or maybe monitor 50's. but the budget was delayed and the idea of wall mounting was presented.
finally, how solid is the "keyhole" mounting solution. can i trust it to hang up there for a few years?

I have a pair wall mounted in the bedroom, they sound great, instead of using the keyhole opt for the wall mount model Btech 77. I think you can even buy them directly from polk now also.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Exactly what I was thinking. When I upgraded my TV I was thinking of putting my LSi7's (then front speakers) on b-tech mounts rather than floor stands. I ended up with my LSi15's, but I bet they would have worked rather well on the BT-77's.... (I know they do as rear speakers)
BTW - I found the mid-bass got a little boomy when I mounted them with the built in keyhole slot.

Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms) -
Just stirring the pot here...
I've got to add to the recommendations for the RTi4s with the B-Tech BT-77 wall mounts - great combo - great sound - great match.
They do work very well together:

The RTI4s are great for HT or for music. I still can not get over how good they sound!
Cheers

Nice clean look there Erik - very nice setup.

ok guys, the btech 77 mounts look like a really good alternative to the keyhole slot.
here is another, more important question.
my budget allows me to get RTi4's, RTi6's, or RTiA1's. all can be had for just under or right at 200.00. which of the three do you reccomend? i lean towards the RTi6 because of the lower frequency range. or the RTiA1 because it has a cool tapered housing and newer tech.
my inner cheapskate says that the RTi4 will serve just as well in my small room as the others. i do already have a nice velodyne sub to thump the floor.
the room is 12' long and 16'wide. with the screen up on the wide wall, slightly off center to allow for the hallway. center is mounted above the 84" projection screen.
so what does the hive mind reccomend? -
here is the room in question
the new speakers will take the place of the old polks on the floor, and be hung just to the sides of the screen. the rack of equipment will be moved off the the left in the corner. the sub will probably be placed in the center under the screen, or left in its current place of behind the sofa on the left wall.
there should have been an image there.
