I have set of Polk Audio large desktop speakers I want to hook up to my new Dell Inspiron 530S desktop computer. I cannot find any model Identification on the set of one subwoofer and two speakers. How can I find it?? These were working on my old HP pavilion desktop. I also hve a HP connector I'm trying to use. I plug in everything but nothing seems to work. The light on the subwoofer is on. I have absolutely no paperwork on these, and no way to proceed. HELP please.

Gut feeling here is that you might want to make sure you're plugged into the audio jack and not the microphone jack.

Not that I've ever done that . :o

There's no data plate/ label on the back/ bottom of the sub??? If they came w/ the HP, they may be propietary, meaning they were matched with THAT pc.
But, they should still work on any pc.
Unless....the amp was located inside the pc and not the sub? I had that issue when I went from a Pavillion to a custom pc. Ended up having to get a seperate setup.

You may be right about them being for the HP only. I may try a simple set of desktops and see if they may work. A shame as these really sounded good. Can I post a picture here somehow?

Yes. Below the 'message' section, on the right, is 'Go advanced' click on that, then on the bottom left of that section you'll see 'manage attachments'. From there, it's like attaching a file to email.
