    SMS-1 gets my vote. Simple to use initially, and LOTS of flexibility if you want to futz around with it. Occasionally you will see one on eBay for around $450.
    My 7.4.4 DIY 4k Home Theater:
    Polk LSiM 707 L-C-R, LSiM702 side surrounds, LSiM 705 rears

    I've got an SMS-1 I bought off SlowcarIX here at the flea mkt.

    I paid $425 shipped (I think)...In like new condition with accessories and original box.

    $425 shipped to GA, add a couple bucks for Paypal.

    For just parametric EQ, BFD gets my vote for inexpensive and works great. If you need more than just a PEQ, SMS-1 is my vote. (just due to lack of knowledge about others)
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
    Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

    X-30 is hard to find, usually 1 every 3-4 weeks pops up and is snagged quickly. ICBM same deal, very rare now and the last few people were gauging on ($200-$300).

    You could always go with a Reckhorn. Do a search on the forum, EarlyB uses one and they are <$100.

    Thanks for the updates and advice. rtart..will do. If nothing else you're welcome to come by and chill with a few beers and swap some ideas on audio in general. Not too much left in Marietta right now. I bought a house in North Georgia and most everything is up there. I keep this place in Marietta to stay close to my son. I do have all that is in my sig there plus a few other pieces to play with. And lots and lots of vinyl. Oh..and a fridge that keeps beer at a nice COLD temp.

    I would like to make a public apology to two outstanding CP members..... stereo luver and slowcarIX. I offered up my SMS-1 but failed to go through with/ complete either transaction. I got cold feet, developed an emotional attachment to the unit, or something like that.

    I'll offer up an interconnect karma on my next day off in their name to maybe appease the stereo gods/goddesses and keep the good karma flowing.
