I'm looking to replace B&K ref 30 for equal or better Sound Quality for HT. Please advice.

    I've only had a B&K AVR507 s2, so I'm not really qualified to answer that. IIRC the s2 only adds features, not better SQ. I did have a chance to compare an older 20x (can't remember what the last char of the model was) to my 507, and the 507 had much better SQ driving LSi speakers.

    What do you think of Pioneer Elite VSX-92 compare to Ref 50 in sound quality other than functionality?
    It has nice HDMI capability if they do sound the same.

    Are those B&K firmwares free to update? What are the latest version of those if somebody knew?
