I have for sale a Denon DVD-2900. I bought this a few months ago from Shizelbs here. It's still in the same cosmetic condition that I received it in.

I'm tearing down one of my headphone rigs, and this is one of the pieces in that system that must go.

However there is one minor issue with the player. On the second set of analog outputs, if you wiggle the RCA cables while they're plugged in, you do get drop out on the sound, almost like the jacks need to be re-soldered.

I ran across this a while back when I tried to sell it before, and everyone said it would be easy to fix, but I don't wanna jack with it.

There are two sets of outputs for the front channel, (as in it has 7.1 outputs) and all the others work just fine.

Due to the issue, I'll knock some off the price.

I paid about $235 with shipping, I'll sell it for $190 SHIPPED CONUS. If that doesn't sound fair, make me a reasonable offer.

I can take pics if anyone is seriously interested, let me know.

Sounds good. It rates really well on the Secrets benchmarks for DVD performance, but honestly I've never used it for that. I bought and used it solely for CD and SACD playback, and it's an excellent choice for that.

From what I understand this doesn't upconvert the picture. Is this correct?

If so. Would it be disappointing on my 720p LCD? I mean compared to something like an up converting Oppo?

The only standard DVD player I have hooked up to my TV was a P.O.S. Sony. And it was damn near unwatchable.

I doubt it upconverts to HD. I really can't honestly comment because I've never used it for video. According to the Secrets DVD Benchmarks there are some players that have better performance, but it's right up there in the top few players.

Honestly if you're looking for something strictly video you may want to look at the Oppo, but if you're wanting CD and SACD playback, this is going to do it better than anything they have - and that part I can say from experience.

    Well thats thing.

I am looking for a player that can handle both audio and video. Oppo was my first choice. I liked the last two I had. But I was looking for something a little better on the audio side of things.

I just bought a pair of Lsi9's and need a decent source. But it needs to handle audio and video well because I can't afford separates right now.

I'll give it some more thought and get back to you.

If others could chime in on the video side of this thing it would be great. I just don't know if a standard DVD player will cut it. But you keep pushing its video capabilities so maybe a stellar standard DVD player wouldn't look to bad. I just don't know.

You will not be dissapointed in the video output of the 2900. I had one and used it right up until I made the jump to Bluray. It will output 480p into component and the TV can upscale to your native 720p.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

I got it today. It looks and works great. I have only been able to watch DVDs on it so far. The rest of my gear won't be here until the middle of next week. Then I can try out its audio playback.

    Thanks Again!
