...anybody use them. I had a pair of Shahinian Obelisk that I was baby sitting....Now they are gone. Something is missing now in the music. I think it has something to do with the 4 super tweeters the Obelisk used. The SDA- crs's are lacking that ....airiness....space....presence. I Goggled "super tweeter""....outrageous prices. Anybody tried them in their system???

As you get OLDER the top end of your hearing goes (not only your hair). Are their any DIY solutions....tried to find the Rat shack version of Fosteck
...guess they are history.

By the way ....any of you guys into Patrica Barber....best produced CD's ever.

Enjoy the music.

I have supertweeters built into in my speakers. I thought they were superfluous until I turned them off for a while, then back on. I would consider their sonic difference to be slight. I also have ambience tweeters that I attached on the rear. Again, a slight difference, but an immediate improvement in spaciousness.

You can find good deals on a pair of used AV123 ERT supertweeters on the 'gon every now & then. However, for the price you can probably find better tweaks for your gear, IMO.

Ive never been a fan of them. Always made the music a tinge too bright. But then I suppose it depends on the type of music youre listening to. Since I mostly listen to hard rock/heavy metal, added brightness can get harsh.

....mostly jazz , vocals and acoustic.....all which sound better with airiness. The Obelisk being a different type of speaker.....meant for classical and acoustic...had 4 supertweeters ..n-s-e-w and 2 tweeters north and south....just filled the room with air

The new Tannoys I'm looking at have super tweeters mounted on them. They have concentrics but the supers add to the whole soundstage. Nice addition.

I was thinking the same thing.

If you haven't already, it's time to move up to the RDO's. And if you can, the 4.1TL upgrade.

...i have the sl1000 in 0ne set and the sl2000 in the other....i tried multiple speakers DCM QED's, B&W DM220's, and mission 781's.....just missing that presence that i believe was caused by the super tweeters...airiness.

...anybody have a pair of the cheapo ratshack supertweeters???

Why would you want to use three different kinds of tweeters between two speakers?

...sorry...i have 2 pairs of SDA-CRS's..... tried them both in main system...driven by Carver M1.oT amp and B&K pro10mc preamp. Cables are Kimber Kable 4tc and interconnects are MIT. I want air...could be my ears....but I heard it with the Shahinians.

My sl2000's are light, airy and delicate but I have a tube pre which is one of the key ingredients imo. I'm using a carver m1.0T in one system also.

Seems like you answered your own question. Also keep in mind that every component can contribute to the amount of air you hear, especially the amp, IMO.

If you don't mind something on your head...feeding you direct super tweeterness... Try the Echophone. It pumps the signal direct to your brain.
