WTF??? Who is this guy who comes out of hiding just to sell his ****?

Well, I was just going to haul this vinyl to the local record store to sell and take any leftovers to Goodwill….but then I started to feel a little guilty. You see…I bought most of these from Doro and Grand a couple of years ago, and thought the least I could do is put it up here for a couple weeks to see if there is any interest.

FAQ's

What the hell are you selling?
Vinyl. This lot includes about 200 single/double lp’s, 3-7” lp’s, and 12 box sets.

Could you tell me a little more about the vinyl you are selling?
The 200 single/double lp’s include an assortment of pretty much everything… mostly vocal/popular with various metal, classical, children’s, educational, jazz. There is really some interesting stuff in here. Some will be in phenomenal condition (even includes about 10 factory sealed), some will have a great jacket but awful vinyl, some will have a terrible jacket but great vinyl, and there will probably be a handful that could be thrown in the garbage. Some will just need a little TLC to come back to life. You might even find a poster or extra in the jacket. The truth is I don’t have the time or ambition to go through these to determine the condition, clean them, and list them individually. As long as you’re not as lazy as me, you will definitely come out ahead of the game on this one.

The 3-7” lp’s includes “The Mills Brother’s Famous Barber Shop Ballads”, “Barber Shop Harmony”, and “13 Cantors” in red vinyl. The vinyl isn’t in great shape on the barber shop ones, but will still turn someone on.

The box sets are in varying condition, but mostly seem to be very good. If you have questions on a specific one just let me know and I’ll try to answer the best I can with a disclaimer that I am not an expert at rating vinyl.
The box sets include (the word on the street is that the Reader’s Digest box sets are very well regarded and these appear to be in great condition):

Piano Music at Coctail Time
Ballet: Invitation to the Dance
Ben Hur
Arthur Fiedler Wonderful World of Music (Reader’s Digest)
Strauss Don Quixote (Fritz Reiner Chicago Symphony)
Jesus Christ Superstar
Rafael Kubelik with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra
Le Groupe Des Six
Tschaikowsky-Karajan: Berlin Philharmonica
Magical World of Melody (Reader’s Digest)
Quiet Music for Quiet Listening (Reader’s Digest)
Chopin: Poet of the Piano (Reader’s Digest)

Will you sell the box sets separate from the others?
No.

Couldn’t you make a lot more money if you sold these individually?
Yes. I could also make more money if I was a male stripper on the weekends.

Can you put up a list of the titles and condition of the vinyl and jacket?
I could, but I’m too lazy. If I was going to go through that much trouble, the price would go up astronomically.

You are kind of an ****, aren’t you?
I’ve been told that before.

Why are you selling your vinyl? Are you going back to your 8 track player?
I’ve just realized that I never listen to vinyl. I’ll still keep my older small collection of favorites, but it’s time for me to downsize in anticipation of a move to Europe for a few years.

DETAILS

The vinyl will arrive in 3 – 14X14X14 boxes, each weighing about 50 lbs. From my sketchy calculations, I think it’s going to cost about $75 via media mail to get these to you.

I’ll sell this for $250 shipped CONUS with the agreement that you don’t throw my good name through the dirt if you find a few bad records in the lot.

I have 100% positive feedback on ebay and audiogon (username szhleppy) and there are probably a few around this forum that will speak positively or indifferently about me.

Please direct all communication to me on email @ szhleppy@cox.net or post here and I’ll follow up once or twice a day. Thanks!

Welcome back stranger. I strongly second what Wes said. And I'm not buying back any of my vinyl.

Thanks for the nice welcome guys...

George... the only way I would sell any vinyl to you is if you let me clean it first and clean your car this weekend.... I think we both know that isn't going to happen.

Wes... hope all is well. Just remembered that you are still storing some SDA's for me... wow, I am an ****.

Well, let's make this vinyl thing a little more interesting. If you're local (Phoenix metro or Tucson metro... or anywhere in between) and on the fence about getting into vinyl, I'll throw in one of my turntables to make up for not having to ship this stuff. The turntable isn't the best or the worst, but it works. It's a Thorens TD165... not sure what the cart is. You're going to have to set it up, but that's part of the great vinyl experience that you'll need to spend some time with anyways. It does have the dust cover that's in pretty good shape. The only breakage is a small piece on the right side where it clips onto the turntable. It still sits on the turntable fine, but you will have to remove it rather than pivot it up to put a record on the table. This would make the vinyl adventure a low investment option... although we all know where it could lead...
