Who owns their own business?

So a business opportunity landed in my lap a few months ago. I took advantage of it because the hours work around my regular job, and there was no money out of pocket to take over the existing contracts the person was giving up.
So I have semi-worked it over the last two months with nominal return at best. Today was another day that I thought I would maybe break even at best with gas prices the way they are, and travel time.
Well it turned out to be a peach of a day, and I made over 1200 dollars in less than 3 hours or work. With "promises" of more work, and I was given many more contacts that look very promising. This is more along the lines of money that I was told I could expect on a weekly basis if I work it right, and work it at least one day a week.
So what I am asking is does anyone have an LLC, and what is the best route to obtain one? Online or go see a lawyer? Also what is tax deductible so I know what receipts to save and which ones are not. Gas I know, food I am unsure about. Hotels stays? I know any home office supplies would be. Cell phones, gas mileage, business office in home?
Any help would be appreciated, and if you would like to talk to me about it over the phone please PM me and I will give you my number. I just need some really good advise. And no I will not be making any sales pitch to you, it is not that kind of business.
Thanks

If you are concerned about liability issues I would say go talk to a lawyer. If it is for tax purposes I would say go see an accountant, if you tell them you have a business and are looking for someone to do your taxes at tax time they will probably talk to you and answer some of your questions free of charge. Make sure you save any receipts or records of payments that you have. Keep you records neat and organized so when it comes time for some one to do your taxes they don't charge you for time wasted searching for documents. Talk to a professional.Polk RTi 8's
