Polk Monitor 5JR

Ok... i think "5JR" is a bit of a small designation for the search engine to like it. :(

Anyways, i can get a set of these in good shape for $80. Do i want them?

    Yes.

    I love these speakers and listen to them every day. I have swapped the RDOs into my pair of Mon 5Jr+ and they are the best sounding speaker for the price and size. Have you had a chance to demo them?

    Well, if you could use a nice sounding, smaller pair of speakers, I'd say "sure". But I am not the person to ask if you want to be talked out of buying speakers...

    I think i'll pick them up... worst case scenario i give them to my brother or girlfriend or something.

    Worth a shot, i'm just not sure that they'll sound better than the VS-25s, but i'm willing to take a gamble. :)

    Haven't demoed them yet, i'll try to do that tonite, they're about 20 minutes north of me, but i'll be up there anyways to pick up a Mirage Omni S10. :D

    I picked up a pair for $50 on CL. Figured a bargain at $50, alas one of the tweeters is dead. As soon as I find a replacement tweeter these little speakers will be my new side surrounds. As you might guess they don't pack the punch and body of a Monitor 7, but they sound nice even with one dead tweeter! I also couldn't get the search to work with any kind of 'Monitor, 5, jr, + combination, what gives?

    The Mon5Jr is a solid speakers, so it might be a competition between that and the VS-25. The Mon5Jr does have the SL2000 which may hold it back in the minds of some, but I the VS-25 would be no match to the RDO Mon5Jr, especially in build quality.

    Do you know what tweeter is on the VS-25s?

    those are a nice looking pair.. and he prob updated the tweeter is appears. I'm not sure if they ever came with the SL2500, but cool find. they look in decent condition too.

    for $80 or less if you can talk him down a few bucks.. i'd take a chance on them too. ;)

    I got him down to $70 because he's about 20 miles out of my way. But what he doesn't know is that i'll already be up there to pick up my Mirage Omni S10 :D

    Tonite will be fun, get to play with some new toys. Have to do some testing to see if the Paradigm Titan is going to stay in my main setup or not.

    Grab them and have fun listening. They don't have the full monitor sound, but as close as you can get for little money and a small cab! I wish mine were in that good of condition. :D

    That's the same tweeter (SL 2500) my Monitor 5 JR's have (see pictures in this post: http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69276 ).http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69276 There is also a Monitor 5 JR+ but I have no idea what's different between them. BTW if any fellow polkies has a spare SL 2500 sitting around gathering dust on a shelf, I am in need of one tweeter!

    Look again the foam is there. SL2500's for sure :)
