I just bought my monitor the other day and was thinking about switching it up to the rti12. Please let me know what you guys think. I would be using it for music and movies 30/70. I'm new to this stuff.

Why are you thinking of switching? What are you lacking or what do you want more of? Do you have any other speakers in the mix?
Don't just upgrade for the sake of wanting more. You will be in an endless trap trying to feed upgraditis. If you are happy with the 70's then stick with them. -
If your are having second thoughts and can still return the speakers for an upgrade, now is the time to decide before it is too late. Of course the Rti's are better sounding than the Monitors, but there will always be something better.
If there is a 30-day return policy, then sit back and relax for awhile and enjoy. -
RTi12s are good HT speakers especially for the price... however you must know that when you get these.. they are power hungry. So be prepared to upgrade and spend even more. That means getting an amp capable over 200wpc at the minimum. Your current AVR needs to have preouts, if not then you gotta spend the money on either a Pre-amp or another AVR with preouts.
As you can see the cycle is endless and spending the money never stops. If you are content with the Monitor 70s and aren't ready to shell out another $800-900, then keep those. Meanwhile, scour these forums and other sites as well and learn as much as you can.TV: LG 55LW5600

I've demoed both the Monitor 70s and the RTi12s; I must say for movies, the m70's are crazy good. Really, I could tell a little bit of a difference in watching xformers, but not enough to warrant the price different (retail at least).

It all depends what you have for the rest of your system... If you already have a center speaker matched for the m70s, then I would say keep the 70s unless you upgrade to the csi3/5. It also depends on what reciever you are using.AVR: H/K AVR240

The CS2 is matched to the monitor line but I would listen to both if possible and pick the one you like.AVR: Elite VSX-21TXH
