Does anyone have experience with the Polk PA600.1 mono amp using it in a 1 ohm configuration? Does it heat up quickly, how hot? How quick would it go into thermal protection in a 1 ohm load? Just looking for someone with experience with this amp and knows what it will do. I don't want to crank the *&^% out of it all day log if that's what people are thinking. I want a good solid amp and I didn't know whether to wire it in a 2 or 1 ohm load. I know 2 would run cooler, but if I can get the full 600 watts out of it, then why not? Just looking for real world experience. Thanks in advance.

The 600.1 is stable down to 1 ohm so you can run it there all day long and itll be fine so long as youre not driving it into clipping and you install it where it has plenty of air flow for cooling.

They would be under each seat in a reg cab Chevy Colorado. Would this be OK or do you think that I might run into issues? Most of them would be out from the seat and there is room around it. I don't know what to expect pushing a 1 ohm load from an amp. I'm sure that it will "warm up" pretty good, but I don't want to destroy my investment or trip the thermal protection all of the time. Thanks for your replies.

So long as there is a couple inches of air flow above the amp and nothing blocking in front or behind them so air can get under the seat easily, I dont think youll have a problem.
