Ok,

So is anyone good at designing logo's in here? Or can point me in the right direction for designing a logo? I am trying to make one for my humble tile business. My company is called, "In The Neighborhood" and specializes in custom design tile and stone. It isn't really a company at this point, just something I enjoy doing on the side. (Which I haven't had a side to do it on lately either, but that is neither here nor there i suppose)

So anyways... I am trying to design this very simple website online, and I need a logo with my name in it. I don't know the first thing about building one. (Logo's, not websites)

Anybody have any pointers or is like super good with this kinda stuff? I'm thinkin' something with a diamond tile pattern with a border in the upper left corner for the logo...

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Thanks,
David

Ok here is a link... as long as nobody laughs. Its my first website attempt! (And it's for school common guys... Ha.)

Have some tile in stock that you would like for the Logo? I mean, if you take some decent pictures of the tile in position, should be able to put that up with the title of your company in the font of your choice.

Also, if you were going to do a bit of flash. Take individual pictures of each tile and border piece along with a picture of all the tiles in place. The flash could move the tiles into position and then show the finished piece as the name of your company goes in.

http://www.bluesman.net/ for a example of an easy custom flash.

If you decide not to do the flash, I'm sure you could build your own logo from scaling pictures of assembled tile w/ borders and just placing on your index page. (Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro and few other programs are more than capable of doing this).

Glad to help if you need some. Just send me a PM.

Edit: Nice tile and Granite work!
I would suggest you make a table for those images on the project page. Put thumbnails of a reasonable size (200 x 200 or so) that reference the larger images. That way folks can choose the pictures they want to look at larger, but also get to see all your projects on one page.

If you don't end up doing something yourself, my sis-in-law is a graphics designer for Garmin and does some logo design work on the side. She did the logo for my website, plus a few other images, for a real good price.

If you are interested hit me up with a PM and I'll show you some of her work.

Excellent suggestion... I just haven't had time to figure out that HTML Programming yet ;) But ya, it's VERY basic right now, and has limited knowledge/pictures but hey, it's still a site right?

I wasn't really wanting to spend money on this logo design... maybe find a good free logo graphic design software or something and do it myself. I dunno if that even exists! Ha.

I did a VERY rough idea of what I am looking for logo wise.. let me see if I can post it here... ugh not working. It's a word doc that has a file saved into. No can do copy/pasting that. Oh well. I will keep trying.

Give it a whirl yourself. You'll get a logo that is what you want and the skill / knowledge that will always be there in the future. (That's if you have the time to tinker with it). It will be a good thing to know as your web page / site grows.

    Edit:
Forgot to mention an animated .gif for your logo. They are pretty easy to make from still images. Can be done as moving tiles into an assembly, or adding color to the tiles after they appear. Doesn't have to be animated on every page, but makes for a nice intro on your main page. Give it a bit of zip. The last image in the animated series could be used as a logo on the top of other pages. Have fun!

If you have a store bought pc, that's fairly new, you probably have a app. that can do it installed with the bundle. I know I have WAY too much crap on mine!

I use Paint Shop Pro. Have been using it for years. They have it as Try before you buy too. In recent years, they have taken on more of a Digital Camera Tool, but it still offers all the features you will need for manipulating images.

For assembling the animated .gif you'll need different software for it. Back in the day, I had an upgrade offer for Animation Shop 3(doesn't work with Vista) for free with a PSP upgrade. It's what I use.

For some other options, you can try webutilities.com - Gif Animators. Has several choices for about the same price.

Also, if you have a movie camera, you might want to choose one that import .avi files. It will take the video and sort them into individual frames that you can edit and reassemble into an animated .gif. I have never done this but it sounds fun.

Make sure you show us how it turns out.
