The guy i got them from said that the little wood stands came with the speakers ??
There is not a scratch on them anywhere--- very good condition --grills look new as do the speakers
Haven't even hooked them up yet to see if they work
also, how do i post pictures that enlarge when you click on them ??

duh -- do some research fossy -- ya lazy butt--- 7c's
-
Those pictures are large enough.
You could attach them to the post instead of hosting them elsewhere, then they'll show up as smaller images and enlarge when they're clicked on.
I believe that sticker on the back might be a giveaway that they're 7C's..."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -
thanks Face
:D
are they 4 0r 8 ohm ????? -
I'm not sure, next time I pull mine apart I can tell you. I also have a pair of 7C's with SL1000's.
So did you hook them up yet?"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -
yes puttin a listen to them now
hhmmmmm they sure a clear sounding --- nice mids & highs --- bass is a bit lacking but it could just be me comparing them tho the heavy mid-bass from lsi9's -
hhmmmmm hardly any sound coming out of one of the woofers ---least it's not as strong as the other channel --- it's getting late so tomorrow i will switch the channels around. Also i noticed when i turned on my receiver , i heard music very very faintly b4 i turned on the amp.. I've never noticed this with the lsi9's. hhhmmmmm

Make sure all the screws are nice and snug, bass shouldn't be lacking.
EDIT: Well there you go."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -
I'll bet they're 4 ohm; SL1000 and fuse by binding posts. The newer C's came with 2000's and Safety Guard, along with the tweaks to the X-over.

Also, I'm no authority figure on these, but every "C" I have seen had the beveled front on the cabinets. Those are some beautiful speakers, BTW!

I took both woofers out just to have a look. The screws were a bit loose on that one speaker.1984 is the date on the back of um.I think the gasket's could use replacing though. Also last night i didn't even think about the height at which i have them.Same height as I had the 9's. probably a bit to high
reading on the post by concealer404 about the 11t's so I know i can get some gasket stuff.
Last night I couldn't turn it up much cause the roomate was here -- today the speaks sound great -- plenty of bass --highs are much better than the lsi9's
I don't really know how to correctly explain it -- they sound bigger or a put off a taller sound -- bigger soundstage ?? is that what it's called ?? :D dang rookie's -- I swear
they are just so clear sounding compared to the lsi9's. very nice i must say.
Can't imagine what some of the bigger models sound like that some of ya'll have.Must be nice .
Also last night what i was hearing & not realizing is they put off a different bass than what i was listening to.Deeper, cleaner.
Just listened to a song by Trish Murphy off 1999 local licks CD. Her voice was right on.These 7c's just gave me goose bumps.very nice-- very happy with purchase -
I wouldn't say the SL1000's have better highs, but there will definitely be MORE highs than the Vifa tweeter.
IMO, the 7's are the most balanced and best sounding out of the vintage monitor series."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -

Thanks stubby-- I was quite pleased with the condition & i thought it was a bit high as far as the price-- $100 -- but after all I've read about the older polks, I wasn't gonna pass it up -- I missed out on a pair in SAN Antonio about a week ago but they were a bigger pair.
I saw some 7's at the http://polksda.com/ under the e-bay listing and they had the beveled edges but not the 7c's.
I am enjoying the sound of these so much the lsi9's haven't gotten any listening time since I bought the 7c's.Such a nice open, airy clear nice bass sound. Best $100 I've spent since beginning the audio journey.
FACE, maybe "better" wasn't the right word to use.
can i udgrade the tweets without modifying the x-overs ?? -
Yes, I believe you can install RD0-194's without having to mod the crossover.
You will have to modify the cabinet though. You'll have to enlarge the hole the tweeter sits in, along with also having to drill new mounting holes for the tweeter."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -
I paid $80 for my 7Cs and I would have paid $100 for sure. I had put out an "Item Wanted" ad on the local CL and at the time I did not know anything about Polk Audio except for having heard the name, and the seller e-mailed and offered them for $80; I went over and listened to them and did not even try to negotiate:D. If I saw another pair of 7Cs for $100 locally I'd buy 'em in a heartbeat:D.
-
By the way, my 7Cs did not include stands either, so yeah you got a good deal IMO. I'd drop $100 on a good pair without stands if I could find them.

I do a search everyday now ;)
