I am doing a HT room rearrangement and I finally pulled the carpet spike out of the rubber feet. I never knew they were there until i read a while ago on this site.

However, the speakers do not seem any more stable with the spikes as with the rubber feet. Is there a sonic advantage to having spikes vs rubber feet?

Spikes are for carpet because the rubber feet aren't always very stable on padded carpet and spikes aren't as stable as rubber feet on wood flooring.

No sonic difference as far as I know.

actually spikes are used to increase efficiency. the without the use of spikes speaker drivers (especially at lower frequencies) the cabinet can wobble forwards and back, using up precious energy, as drivers a critically flawed being at most 40% efficient any loss of energy is detrimental, the spikes create a point for vibrations to travel into the floor beneath, without using energy to move the cabinet, for best possible sound and efficiency use of spike is recommended,

Well, I have everything rearranged to my liking. I moved the new LSi15s (little over a year old) to the front, and moved the 4 year old LSi15s to the rear. Also, the rears are now sideways vertical to the wall versus being angled in the rear corners. And the 15s woofer now faces into the room instead of being right next to the rear wall. Furniture wise I moved the rear recliner out of the room, and put a couch in between the two rear speakers.

I have a couple of bottles of wine and now it is time to rebalance the speaker outputs to reflect the changes. Then I can spend the rest of the night evaluating the sound and trying to determne if the spikes (or the wine) is the differance in sound.
