Hello all,
Just finished the 8 tweeter swap out. All original ones were dated 1986. I am the original owner.
Sound is more detailed with less harshness in vocals. I played some Chris Botti "trumpet" and the sound was much warmer than before. Vocals from various artists all improved as well.
Of course having 21 year old tweeters kind of speaks for my hearing adjusting to them over time. They now sound new again.
By the way, all four tweeters on the left speaker were mounted with the positive terminal in the top position, and the right side had them mounted in the down position. I guess they had a left handed installer or something on the line back then. If there is a sound difference from this please tell me, I will change them..:)
Forgot to mention i'm running 2 adcom 555 amps, one for the high end and one for the lows. Using an Onkyo 805 to control them.

Are you planning on doing crossovers?Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

no plans to do crossovers yet..maybe next month. Happy with the sound as is..
But I know with the crossover mod it would be fantastic. -
Somewhere in my thread from when I did my crossovers, there's a post where I'm questioning why I'm doing it, because it sounded so good before. So how much better can it sound??? Much....no plans to do crossovers yet..maybe next month. Happy with the sound as is..

Ahhh...another Chris Botti fan!!! I had the pleasure to chat with him, his guitarist Mark Whitfield, and pianist Billy Childs, 2 nights ago at the Montreal Jazz Festival.
