6x9 speakers with separate tweeter?

I had a pair of Polk 6.5 inch speakers (carbon fiber driver) with attached tweeter that I saved from my old car before I sold it. My new Tacoma Pickup truck (2006 model) has 6.5 cutouts in the rear doors (4 door model) so that's where my existing 6.5 inchers will go. But the front doors have cut-outs for 6x9. Easy enough... right?

Except that the Tacoma front doors have a mount for a separate tweeter up high near arm-height... and I'm worried that if I get the Polk 6x9's with the tweeter mounted over the main driver that I'll lose some clarity and imaging with the speakers so low near the floor (and very much straight down).

Does Polk make a 6x9 with a detached tweeter?

help!

The SR6500 may be just what you're looking for. It comes with a 6x9 plate that you mount the midbass driver to and then you can run the tweeter seperately.
