Who Killed the Electric Car?

This is one of the best documentaries I've seen since Supersize Me. What I found incredible was that as a resident between 2000 and 2003 in California, the primary site of development of electric cars in the late 1990s and early 2000s, I never really heard anything about their growth or about the sudden termination of the program and forced recall of the cars in spring, 2003. Highly recommended, but also a little disturbing/frustrating considering the spiralling prices at the gas pump at present.

Up here in Northern California, we always hear about the Tesla ($100K hybrid sports car that can do 0-60 mph in 5 seconds) and the electric cars being manufactured on Alameda (man-make island seen in Star Trek IV).
