Has anyone run a band pass box and what type of subs did you use?
If life had more tubes it would be a lot smoother.

8 years ago I had a dual twelve inch Q-Logic bandpass with two Eclipse 86 series woofers. It was my buddies but I bought it for a more than reasonable price and sold it months later for more than I paid for it. They were not particularly accurate but they satisfied my need for boom at the time. I can't say that I would ever buy a bandpass again. If you are low on cash and just want to be obnoxious it can fit the bill.Pioneer Premier DEH-P980BT

Well then that sound like me. I'm not really worried about accurate music in my car at this point in my life but i want a lot of bass. I have talked to crutchfeild on the phone and they said I couldn't use any sub i want because a lot of subs would create distortion if used in a band pass box. Is this true?If life had more tubes it would be a lot smoother.

Yeah distortion is a good enough way of putting it. Make sure you get a sub or subs that are recommended for a bandpass. Some bandpass boxes are preloaded, you should take a look for one.Pioneer Premier DEH-P980BT

I have a bandpass box. It works well for my purposes. The best feature imho is that the woofer is totally proteced inside the box and it looks pretty slick with the plexiglass window in it.
As for what's in it, it came preloaded with an Orion XTR10 that I ran with an Orion XTR250. Sounded fantastic and everyone who heard it was blown away by it. Eventually too many -40 winters destroyed the surround and the speaker blew. I replaced it with a Soundstream SPL10 which is still thumpin in there. The sound curve is much different, it seems to peak in certain sound ranges because the box is not ideal for the speaker. For instance, 50hz seems (comparatively) quiet, 60 seems really loud, but then 80 seems quieter than 60.
I also eventually replaced the amp after it gave up the ghost and bought my current amp off of a buddy for a case of beer./////ALPINE INA-W900 HU
