choice of surrounds to match.....
Hello community!
I have an Onkyo txsr602, a Polk CSR center, and soon i will have a pair of R50's to replace my beginner sony front speakers.
I run a 7.1 system, and there are 4 small sony bookshelf speakers doing surround service, and a fairly nice velodyne sub.
after i get the R50's in, I will begin looking for replacement surround speakers.
What Polk bookshelf units will match? I would like to mount them up high on wall brackets.
Budget is a serious consideration too.
thanks for any input you guys may have.

Any of the "R" series bookshelves should voice match the R50's.
I used the R15's with the R50's with excellent results. matter of fact I'm still using the R15's as surrounds, just haven't got around to replacing them yet.:o
Amazon has the R15's and the R150's on sale from time to time at about 1/2 off.
They have the R150's right now at $81.15 with free super saver shipping.

The r150's as near as I can tell, are just r15's with the tweeter on the bottom instead of on the top, and the width and depth arte slightly different.

ok,
here is a thought.
r150's, monitor 30's, or atrium 45's?
the monitors have that keyhole mounting thing, but that points it straight out. i currently have an adjustable bracket screwed onto the back of my cheesy sony surrounds. the atrium speaker will obviously have the best mounting solution, and the best spousal acceptance factor. but will it sound good compared to the r50's. a buddy of mine has monitor 40's, a CSi3 center, and atriums on the back wall for surround. it sounds good, and looks good too. will the performance be the same paired to other polk speakers?
if i go with the atriums i will eventually put four of them around the ceiling in place of the sonys that currently run the 7.1 system
my concern is that if i hang the monitor 30's on the wall, they will point straight out into space, and not be directed at the listening position. with the r150s i would have to put screws into the rear baffle to mount my bracket and that might ruin them.
and........ it looks like my r50's will ship out tommorow!!! whooohoooo!!!! -
R150s will match the R50s. If you can get a used CSi25 center channel on eBay then you're golden. I saw one go for $50 shipped awhile ago. This set up sounds phenomenal for the $$

are the infinity beta 10's any good?

what are infinity beta ten? i will look into that.

Go to BB and pick up the T15...same as the R15's and get a pair for 49.99...end of story. They will match your fronts...if you can return that center, pick up a cs1 or 2 for 100 bucks now that they are on sale. Sit back and enjoy.Retired Onkyo 520 (returned broken HK 247)

well, here is me feeling dumb.
my center is not a csR. i looked at the back of it, it is a csi25. so i think i dont need to buy a new center for a while.
ok, what are the t15's? by BB do you mean bestbuy? my local bestbuy does not sell polk audio speakers, just sony, jbl, and klipsch.
