What vintage speakers should I get to go with my Marantz 2238b? Polk audio or not, doesn't matter to me. I got $200-$300 to spend.

Marantz HD 770 or HD 880 would work perfect with them. I was surprised how nice they sounded in comparison to the Pioneer HPM-100s I had at the time and preferred them to the highly regarded HPMs. I think I once read Marantz voiced their speakers with their own receivers (makes sense). Anyway, happy hunting...!

Marantz and Pioneer speakers aren't even on the same planet as good pair of vintage Polks.
Monitor 7's
Monitor 10's
RTA 11T or 11TL
SDA 2B--upper end of the budget perhaps a tiny bit more
SDA 1C--might be out of budget
Those are just a few of my favorites. You really can't go wrong with a vintage pair of Polks, just make sure of the condition and the originality and you'll be very very happy.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul! -

Agreed! The HD-880's sound great with a Marantz receiver as mine do with my 2325 Receiver. This series of Marantz speakers were designed by Ed May after he left JBL for Marantz.Main System: Polk SDA SRS 1.2 Speakers, Sunfire Signature 600~two Amp, Carver C-16 Preamp, Carver TX-11b Tuner, Marantz 6350Q TT, Philips CDR-775 Recorder, Teac V-707RX Cassette Deck, Signal Cable Double Run Speaker Cable
Upstairs Den: Marantz 2325 Receiver, Marantz 5220 Cassette Deck, Marantz HD-880 Speakers, Marantz 6370Q TT
Exercise (Kabuki speaker) Room: Kenwood KR-9600 Receiver, Pioneer CS-99a Speakers, Sansui SP-X9000 Speakers (not pretty, but LOUD! ) -
I bought a 2226B and a pair of HD-550's two weeks ago. The HD-550's are in need of a woofer refoam and cabinet re-veneering. So I'm using a pair of Rti 8's(until I find Moniter 5's) with the receiver and it sounds good. New or old speakers, your gonna like that receiver.
