Couple of weeks I asked the group for help on R.T.A. 12b speakers as I had not heard them. You guys rated them very high, boy where you right ! Got them locally (in CA. ) on eBay (no shipping ) . Just got them home and lugged upstairs (they are heavy !!!) . Hooked them up to my Luxman R-113 Receiver (also new to me on eBay ) with my Music Hall MMF -5 turntable and I am in heaven . What great sound --what sound stage ! Beats anything I have heard new from any of the so called high end speaker manufactures in the last few months of my search for less than $2,500 a pair and I still think the old Polk's win out. Paid only $175 for the pair, what a deal. Does anyone know what these speakers retailed for and the year they were made ? Thanks Matt

Get a separate amplifier with at least 150 wpc rms and you'll hear what they can really do.SRT For Life; SDA Forever!
The SRT SEISMIC System:
Four main satellite speakers, six powered subs, two dedicated for LFE channel, two center speakers for over/under screen placement and three Control Centers. Amaze your friends, terrorize your neighbors, seize the audio bragging rights for your state. Go ahead, buy it; you only go around once. -
I think the MSRP of the RTA 12C's is $980 for the pair. Not sure what they actually retailed for. I got mine for $150 locally and everyday I crank the volume I am reminded of the bargain I lucked in to. I feel your pain regarding lugging them up the stairs, I live on the third floor!
AbelPolk Audio RTA 12c's, Monitor 7c, Monitor 5JR+, SDA CRS+ -
upgrade the old crossover with new caps and the Polks REALLY start to sing...

Kauai82,
Aloha bro!! I live on Oahu!!! glad to see another local boy online... you still in Kauai or are you a transplant? -
Actually in CA. Love Kauai and have been there many times first time in 1982. Dream of retiring there, but it looks like that might not happen the way the economy is going for a long time. Matt

After more research I have figured out that I bought 12C not 12b. What kind of cap up grade are you talking about ? The ones on the tweeter or the internal ones inside the cabinet. I really like the sound of the speakers now and would not want to screw them up. Thanks, Matt

If you don't know what you're doing and you enjoy the sound of them now, leave them be."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche
