Whats better, a psw303 for $299 or a psw350 for $269?
I just purchased a rm6005 system from Crutchfield. I wasn't sure if I should get the newer, upgrade (303) or the "SALE" upgrade (350). The 350 was $30 cheaper than the 303 (299 vs 269 at Crutchfield)
Can anyone tell me if they have tested differences with the PSW303 vs. PSW350? It will be running off an Onkyo SR600 with the new 6005 Polk home theater system.
Any comments/suggestions would help. Thanks!
(upgrading from 7 yr. old 27" TV Magnavox and 10 years old Polk 5jr+ and Kenwood 8030 receiver)
My new home theater system:
1) Sony 40" XBR800
2) Onkyo SR600 home theater receiver
3) Polk home theater rm6005 with psw350 upgrade (from 202)
4) Sony progressive scan DVD player DVP-NC655 P/S

Tough one. Have you listened to them?
The main difference IMO is the port. The 303 is slot loaded, and the 350 has a regular circular port. The slot should give a better overall performance in the sense of accuracy and noise. If you like a little boom, go with the 350.
Circuit City has pretty good return policies. Take one home, try it out. If you don't like it or want to hear the other one at home, take it back and trade em (all within 30 days). CC usually has the same or better prices than Crutchfield as well.

Hey Zeus...
I have not compared them but I have the 350 and I love it...I have it in a 10 by 15 room it shakes the walls and the vent system all the way up to the 3 rd floor in my house.Your system is only as good as your weakest component...!

I had the 350 briefly, didn't like it at all. I found it very boomy, not musical, and the sound went on and on, kind of like a distant thunderstorm rumbling. I found the gain was weak (compared with some others) The 303 looks more promising with the slot setup, and sounded better in the store to me than the 350 did. This was not a scientific test, obviously. I'm a big Polk fan but like I say the 350 did not appeal to me. For reference I am now using Acoustic Research instead.

Some other differences to note here. The PSW303 has an 8 inch long throw woofer with the hi-roll surround. The PSW350 has a 10 inch woofer.
Best thing to do is listen to both as suggested if you can. -
I wish Polk would have bought AR last year! That would have given them a great asset
