Bad news travels in three. I am now up to two in the last week. My friend and I were heading home round 2am. A cop passed us, and we saw him stopped later down the road. It looked like somone dumped about three garbage cans in a 50 foot strech of road. When we got closer I saw a helmet in the road, and then we saw the body. What I thought was trash was the motorcycle smashed into tiny pieces. We could not see a large piece like the frame, engine, nothing that would identify it as a motorcyle. I have never seen a motorcycle smashed into tiny pieces like that ever. I told my buddy it looked like he may have come off the bridge above, and landed on the road we were on. We must have missed it by minutes. There was 2 cops, and two civilians on the scene, and nobody else.

My friend, and I will never travel that road again without thinking of that guy. The sensation of flying through the air knowing that your dead when you land... Its just disturbing. His body looked to be disfigured, but in one piece. The guy was a dig guy, and was wearing shorts, and a Teeshirt. His helmet came off when he landed. Its amazing that the human body can stay together, and that motorcycle was just disintegrated.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. That sucks. I watched a dude on a motorcycle get killed. It was him trying to be cool flying up a street and someone pulled out in front of him. Both him and the bike kinda went "splat" into the front quarter of the car. I still remember saying to my wife at that split second when it happened, "Dude is dead".
Sure enough, I got outta the car and ran up there and his neck was snapped. There was a state cop there who saw the whole thing and he got everyone away. I remember everything like it was yesterday. I hope never to see anything like it again. -
I spend a lot of time driving, and THANKFULLY, haven't seen anything too graphic.
I've seen some accidents where it was a coin toss if anyone lived.
Sorry for your luck Ben.I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -
Tough one Ben. Not sure how I would deal with that one. Try not to think about it too much.Michael

I spent 10+ years driving 100's of miles per day, saw more car accidents and dead people then I care to recall but some just stick with you, nothing you can do but except that death is part of life no matter how it happens.If...

I thought of you, and my X wife when I saw it. She was in a public service position also. If it was kids I would be traumatized. This was just disturbing. What was going through his mind in his 120+ foot long 40 foot drop. This guy saw his end coming fast. Thankfully I didn't get a good look at him. We knew there was no need to stop.Please. that's tough.. i've seen it all. i'm not bragging.. i just don't care to see stuff like that again. but you also have to think what did he do to get himself in that accident? was it suicide, or was he going like 115 MPH and lost control? You'll never know, but it's still tough to see the aftermath like that.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Seen hundreds, maybe thousands.
I loved doing the pickup jobs back in the day. The jobs everyone would turn away were my favorites.
Btw, pickup jobs were calls to pick up doa's in public view or in public property.
We don't do pickup jobs anymore. The city morgue sends out refrigerated vans now.

My father owns a towing company so I've seen a few nasty things while running calls with him but more so I've heard far worse of calls he's had to go on, most of which involved under age drinking and driving. Sorry you had to go through that Ben.Money Talks, Mine says Goodbye Rob!!!!

Local nurses call motorcycle riders organ donors 'cause that is about all that is left after a nasty accident. Most times when we came up on a motorcycle accident, it was pretty much crowd control until the county coroner arrived. Sometimes, the guy or girl was still alive and being the FNG, I had to go and retrieved severed body parts for transport to the hospital with the injured rider.
Seeing a mangled hunk of person limp on the road is stomach wrenching. It's rough for sure and I can tell you from experience, no matter how many times you see it, it never gets easier. Makes you even question your own mortality. The worst part is when you find out what happened, the thoughts of what was going through the minds of the people that passed on can be very tough to deal with. Especially if you know you are ever in a similar situation where the same circumstances could easily have claimed your life. That happened to alot of people on 9/11/01 watching the people who would rather jump to their death than get burned to death.
If it bothers you that much, dude, go talk to someone about it. It's not an easy thing to see or deal with.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

I lost a good friend to a motorcycle accident. He was a cop too and a crazy driver. A friend of mine who was on the scene said he kept trying to get up and walk. He just didn't know he was dead yet.Sharp Elite 70

Wow... Darla. That just sent a shiver down my spine.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I've seen a few bad bike crashes and had to lay mine down once years ago when an old guy in a pick up turned in front of me. Luckily we were at a low speed and just slid under the truck. I was fine and the ex had a few scrapes.
Saw a bad one several weeks ago while on a poker run. The typical idiot in a car pulled out in front of the bike. Didn't get close enough to see the rider but he was airlifted out and they had to wash the road down before they let traffic by. I'm to the point I don't like to ride unless I'm with a group, the old safety in numbers adage.
