sony sa-wm40 sub to go along with my setup....
I have a slightly older Sony sa-wm40 12" active sub and want to know how this would sound with my rm10 set going up soon. I had this sub on an older system I had and sounded great to me. Do you think this sub will be adequate to my system or should I look for something else. Any info?

The Sony subs were some of the best bang-for-the-buck subs on the market 5-6 years ago. There was alot of tweak talk about them on HT Forum and AVS.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

If you think it sounds fine. I would use it. I had one for a while and never had any problems with it; just don't cross it too high so it drowns out the speakers.

thats a decent sub, especially if you throw some polyfill in it (pop off the driver, place in the fill, put driver back on. if your really in the mood to tweak, coat the paper part of the driver cone in decoupage glue (I believe the stuff is called mod podge, any self respecting craft store should have it) I did the mods, and the sub still serves in a friend of mine's theater.
the mods, when I did them, made a SIGNIFICANT difference in making the bass tighter (less flabby)Living Room 2 Channel -
