Ciao Guys & Girls !
Have about 1,000 lps...most not played in 20 years. A lot of the early ones..pre 1980 were probably abused. What is the best way to bring them up to SNUFF. I am using a MINT DUAL 1219 turntable with a MINT Shure V15 MK III original cartridge. Of course I can't do anything about scratches. But what about the background noise.... fuzzzzzzzzzz....Clicks and POPS.
Thank you in advance.

Thank you:
I have a few back up TT....an Elac...for 78's w a stylus for 33's & a few old Technics....sl-23's. I ussually play my worst lps on the old tts. Will I hurt the stylus on my Shure w/the older discs? -

Its always been my opinion that unless the record is actually damaged it won't hurt to play old scratched (within reason) LP's. By damaged I mean stuff in the grooves (use your imagination here), deep scratches or cracks or smashed grooves. I have run through hundreds of old crappy records using my Benz Ruby cartridge ($3K) with no second thoughts.
madmaxVinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want...
