My family and myself would like to thank the members of Club Polk, and especially those that have posted here and/or pm'd me. My uncle's death has saddened us,but my mother(who is his younger sister) is really struggling. She is 84 and spends the weekends with us, her mind is good, but her motor skills are pretty much gone,,ie,,assistence doing everything. Anyway,,I rolled her wheelchair up to the computer, and let her read the posts from you guys and girls,,needless to say,she was overwhelmed with the kind words and thoughts from all of you,she even watched the video that Russman posted.I explained to her what Club Polk is and she was deeply moved to the point of tears, because of the kindness shown by all of you, many of whom,I've never met. With that said, you guys and girls(you know who you are),have my utmost respect. When I was in Viet Nam, there were two types of people in this scenario, those that would leave you "in the bush",,and those that would not,,, you folks are of the latter,,;)

I thank all of you,, your kind words mean alot,,especially to my mother and our family.
    Sincerely,
    George G Daniel

My family and I would like to thank all of you for your kind words and prayers. I want to share this with you, picture this in your mind,,rural South Carolina church,,flatland,,sandy grey soil,,it's 10 am,,the family is huddled beneath the shade of some old oak trees, somewhere in the distance we here music,,bagpipes,,out of the treeline approaches a man playing the bagpipes in full gear,,kilt etc,,as he approaches us he turns and leads us inside while playing,,we are seated and the sevice begins,,at the end of the service, once again we hear bagpipes,as they get closer,I can hear "Amazing Grace",the bagpiper enters the church, and we follow him outside to the gravesite. Following a short prayer,I hear "taps" played by a "bugeler",who's shape was barely visable in the treeline. Now the service is over and we head back a few short miles to the family home,,it's then that I find out from my Aunt, that the bagpipes, bugle and the songs/tunes were of my Uncle's selection.I honestly believe,in my heart, that he did this for "us", the family,a final sendoff if you will,,as they were some brief tears, the occasion was one of fond rememberences, and a rekindling of frienships with many years passed in between, and a commitment from all,,to stay close. Family,, thats what it's all about.
Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to share this with my "polk brothers and sisters.
    Rest in Peace

Everybody here in the West Columbia area knows Shealy's BBQ. Way better than that imposter Maurice Bessinger's. Uncle Earl will be dearly missed.

Sorry for your loss George. I just lost my uncle a few months ago.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Everyone has to make the jump, your uncle did it exceedingly well.

    Thanks for sharing, GD.
