Would a audio alcheny dac in the box improve my sound quality

Im thinking of getting the dac in the box to improve the sound quality of my CD listening.I have an adcom GCD575 and have heard that external DACs can make a big difference when used on older cd players.And my 575 is in need of cleaning and Im unsure of how to clean it.It has very bad tracking.Do they make a cleaning disc or do I take it apart and do it manually?Suggestions would be a big help.

    Sounds like it's time to dump the cdp before getting a dac.Check out cambridge,they have decent cdps that may eliminate your desire for a dac.If your on a budget,some older marantz players are a good buy too.Lots of choices out there.Cleaning disc's can be had at any chain store but I have never had much luck with them.Usually they are pretty cheap so you have little to loose if it didn't work.

    Agreed. I don't think a DAC is going to help your CDP.

    try the cleaning disc... it's cheap.. and you may get a little more use out of it and prolong the replacement. if it doesn't help.. then sometimes it's not even worth getting them fixed..
