I was wondering if it o.k. to use mono block tube amps with the SDA-SRS speakers.

I was also curious if you can bi-amp two Hafler DH-500 amps to these speakers. Any opinion would be most helpful. Thanks.

don't use mono block amps with SDA's till you find out if it's ok.. usually it's not.. mono block amps are usually not recommended. don't ask me why. i don't know. but someone else in here does.

If your serial numbers are 5001 or greater on both speakers and you have an AI-1 interconnect cable, then the answer is yes. Another possible option is to check with the maker of the tube amps to see if the negative outputs can be tied together.

Plug both monoblocks into the same 110v receptacle, and check (with an ohm meter) for continuity between the negative speaker terminals. If you have continuity (roughly 0 ohms), the amps are common ground and the negative terminals are tied to chassis ground, in which case you should be good to go, no need for AI-1 interconnect.

If you do not get continuity, check with the amp mfr to see if you can tie the speaker neg terminals together without letting the smoke out of the amps.:D
