Whats the best HDDVD player for my 2ch setup.

Hi all.Im going to buy a hddvd player but cant figure out which one has a "very good" analog sound output for my system and also I want great upconverting too.My cheap insignia tv has HDMI and goes up to 1080i.Id like it to be able to play CDs also since my adcom is outdated and doesnt play older cds.(very bad tracking) Im thinking about getting a 8ft mini to rca from signal cable and using my pc for playing CDs.I have a good Xfi fatal1ty pro card and wonder if it would have better sound quality than the old adcom.Anyone out there know if thats the best way to do it???

    I have a 2 channel system in my living room and use a Toshiba HD A30 connected to a Sony 2 channel receiver via analog with my HP LT-3200 32" LCD. Great upconverting player and can be had for less than 100 bones.

    why not go with blu ray since hd dvd is now obsolete?

    Well I was looking at some of those that do both but its still to costly.I dont want to pay 300-400 for something thats only a little better than something I can get for 50-80 bucks.And the hddvd movies are pretty cheap now too.Plus I really want to get that eagles farewell hddvd.That should sound sweet on my SDA-2Bs.

    People say the first generation players had the best sound quality - apparently they had superior DACs (Burr-Brown i believe..not sure WHICH burr browns). Can't say I've compared the two myself. The XA1 is widely believed to be the best in audio quality although the XA2, per most reports, isn't far behind. The XA1 plays MP3s and I don't believe the XA2 does. Video wise I'm fairly certain the XA2 is light years ahead of the XA1. Moral of the story: you can't win.     I have an XA1 and find it more than sufficient for music / audio.

    Not sure what they cost these days or where to find them. They are built like tanks and move just as slowly. Dual copper chassis, beautiful looks (if you ask me). A pleasure to look and listen to.
