Sub Eq's

Alittle advice needed.

Something inexpensive, that can go between the pre and the plate amp. 1 channel, eq w/ a range from ~18hz too ~100hz. Just something to smoothen out a Fr range.

I have a +5db spike between 30 and 40hz. And a dip between 70 and 80hz. Was hoping a cheap little eq will help. Maybe something less than $100, if possible.

Any ideas?

Not sure if this has enough features, but it's what you're going to get for $100.

    Actually, yes, Face.

I can dial in on the Fr and cut what I need. From what I'm looking at.

I know you're using room EQ wizard so why not get the Behringer Feedback destroyer that the Room EQ wizard was designed around? I use one and it is great!

yep, cut and boost. It's not the most intuitive thing to use, but the hardest part about using them was figured out what setting to put into them. Room EQ wizard takes the guess work out of that, it tells you exactly what to put in.

One thing you want to keep in mind is if you are going to boost anything you're going to need a lot of power and plate amps aren't all that great for that. I would try cutting values around the dip before I would boost a ton...

edit: this page has a bunch of info about the BFD and R EQ W. It's been a while since I've looked at it, so hopefully it is still relevent...

The Anti Mode 8033 is fully automatic and there is no learning curve. It gets it right the first time. With the BDF, Good Luck!

    Thanks Try,

And I myself am not a big fan of boosting, generally boost = distortion.

I am a memeber of Thehometheatershack.com. So I guess I'll get my reading on.

I am very familiar with REW, so I know that it gives you very good adjustment calculations.

I understand Bill, however, I am not a big fan of automatic. But having experience with REW, I think the BDF, would be my best choice. $99 a PE isnt a bed deal anyway.

Velodyne SMS-1 is an excellent subwoofer EQ, though a little beyond your price range.

Well it all gets down to how much time you want to spend configuring your EQ? Time is also money and I know the WAF comes into play anytime we play with our toys trying to configure the latest and greatest. The Anti Mode 8033is plug it in, set the mike, push the buttons, and it does it's thing. Try this thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1028464.

Honestly, do you work for them or something? Every post I have read of yours seems to be pushing this product, even when people say it won't work for their needs.

This product looks nice for someone who just wants to set it and forget it, with sub-optimal results. The OP can do more with the BFD for within the his price range, end of story.

It would be cool to see the graphs after adding the BFD into the mix so we can see the difference it makes. Please post.
