What would sound the best.
I have a Kipsch sub12, but will upgrade soon.
I now have LSi 15 fronts LSi C - LSi FX surrounds - LSi 9 rears and a Sony STRDA5300ES. I will also get a power amp to push these speakers. All but the LSi 9's are still in the box, and I may get another set of LSi15's if recommended for a 7.1 system. Please help a noob make the best choice.:)

What size is the room, I wouldn't recommend 7.1 unless you have a large room.
As for 15's as rears, why not? My rears have 2 8" woofers each, it's nice to be surrounded in bass."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -

Shweet. Are you refinishing the room? What kind of room is it? Layout?

I say go with the 15's and FX's. Keep them all on the same elevation, too. Your gonna need a couple of good subs, too. And POWER, don't forget the power...

For LSiFX, mount them two or more feet above the ear level (according to THX website for setting up 7.1 mode), and put them in dipole mode. You don't want to know where the sound is coming from, for the side surround speakers!
I have a 7.1 setup now, and noticed that the rear surround speakers are not used as often and as much as the front or center speakers. I would go with LSi9 for the rear surround speakers, and instead add a second subwoofer to be placed in one of the rear corners in the living room. -
Why not drop the 9's and use FX's for all of the surrounds? That's how I would probably roll it.My Main Gear
