Do you think?

Do you think people are dumping their audio or HT equipment because of the rise in energy costs??

I don't frequent eBay or Audiogon, Craigslist, etc. all that much, so I would not see any trends. I read in a lot of newspapers, blogs, etc. that people are selling off anything and everything to pay for rising energy costs. I was wondering if anyone has made any observations or trends? Opinions?

I wondered the same thing Carl. The guy I purchased the ARC Pre from seem to need cash. Perhaps that was an isolated incident, not sure.

I have my own company, and the work just isn't there. I am having to sell off gear just to keep floating. My HT is now 2 channel. I have had to sell off most of my amps. The way its going it will take two years before I can frivolously (cheap used decent stuff) buy/swap gear again. For now all I want is a DAC, and stick with the 2 channel.

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

I don't think it's energy costs that is the problem. I think it's the crappy housing market that is fueling the recession. Couple that with the credit crisis because all those houses are now worth less than what is owed on them and you got people having serious problems.

I plan on selling all my spare gear soon, running out of space.

Hdmi is causing a lot of people to sell stuff they normally would continue to use for a while.

If I was in need of money I wouldn't sell my audio stuff cause it isn't worth enough money to make a difference.

Same here. I've got an Outlaw ICBM, 950 pre-pro and a few other items I just need to sell as I'm tired of storing them. But, the money from those sales will go to fuel my Blu-ray addiction.

This is one hobby I love too much and will cut every expenditure elsewhere as to not have to sell off my gear.

here we've seen a raise in people pawning their valuables to pay for gas and food. people are selling DVD players, movies, stereo gear, jewlery, any thing of value. they usually go to a pawn shop.. which I never would.. they are big fat rip off's. and you can quote me on that.

Surprisingly, my local Craigslist's electronics section has been pretty dead lately. But it appears Audiogon may be picking up.
