I liked the "other" stuff they talk about in that movie (specifically school lunches) much more than the "no duh" part about "if you eat fast food every day your liver will fail."
Well, what else is there to eat on campus? I wish they served more nutritional food instead of just fast food at my campus. And why the hell do they serve so much junk food in the first place? I find that aside from the salads at Burger King and the Sushi place, there isn't too much good food.polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

Oh I know, I went to college. I gained ~50 pounds during my first two years there. It's a perfect storm of bad - they have a captive audience for the most part; they have "poor" college kids who are thrilled to get a full meal for 5 bucks, even if it's horrible for them; they have frazzled college kids who are in a rush because of schoolwork (or, in the case of liberal arts majors, naps); and they have people who drink all the time and want junk food afterwards. It's tough to avoid.
At my school there were options, though they were harder to find than the Pizza Hut, Chinese buffet and Burger King. The actual dining halls were pretty cheap, buffet style, and had plenty of healthy and actually tasty options. There were convenience type stores that sold pre-made salads and sandwiches that were certainly better for you than fast food. And there's always the grocery store for the meals that you're actually home for.If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
Yes, I've actually gone to the Burger King for salads and bought sandwiches for breakfast. But aside from that, there isn't much more to choose from. I think next semester I'm going to bring food instead of buy it on campus, something like the following:
- Bottled water instead of soda
- Salads from the local supermarket
- Real juice instead of "juice flavored" soda
- Sandwiches
- More fruits and vegetables
I hope this will be better than the fast food, which almost everone on campus eats daily...polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

They said that my blood sugar was fine. But that I had high blood pressure and high cholesterol. (This was in a long, complicated printout that basically had pages of info)...
I'm just concerned about why I'm drinking so much water. Like just now, I finished mowing the lawn and trimming stuff, and drank 2 bottles of Poland Spring. By dinner time, I'll probably be drinking another 1-2 bottles of water too.
And I've been to 3 different doctors, they basically say the same thing - eat healthier foods, exercise more, and that I'll be fine.polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

You may have hypertension from the high amount of sodium in fast foods. It's easy to double or triple your daily intake of sodium by eating fast food all day.
A **** load of sodium in your bloodstream is going to draw water our of your cells and into your blood stream. Increased blood volume from the excess water causes higher blood pressure. High blood sodium levels also ends up dehydrating cells, so even though you're not losing water, you can still end you can still end up thirsty. -

Hmm, you may be onto something. What exactly do I need to watch out for? And how much fast food (pizza, fried chicken, burgers, fries, etc.) is too much everyday?
I have a few friends that love to eat Cup Noodles 3-4 times a day and I think those things are quite salty. Isn't that too much sodium?polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

Fast food ONCE a day is too much. Once a week is more like it.
Pretty m uch everything you cook in a microwave is loaded with sodium. As is almost all fast food. Like, probably half or more of your RDA per serving. SO if you're eating that stuff 3-4 times a day plus others, you're loading up.If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
Wow. Everyone here seems to eat fast food ALL the time. Plus college students love to eat microwaved food (hot pockets, cup noodles, etc.)
I never realized how bad this was, especially when you're at the dining hall and all your friends are having the same thing and more:eek:polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

You're in college, dude. You seriously don't know fast food is bad for you?
All the nutrition information is online, just look up whta you're eating before you get it. Try to get the more healthy options on the menu if you're going to go to those places (it's not usually the thing you think it is).If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
Of course I know fast food is bad for you.
But when everyone else around is eating the fast food, you kinda forget about thatpolkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

I haven't eaten red meat in so long that I forgot what hot dogs tasted like. Now I just eat these soy dogs and I can't tell the difference at all. They taste fine to me.
Heres an article on hypertension. http://www.health.harvard.edu/press_releases/daily-sodium-intake.htm
Heres a taco bell nutrition guideline. http://www.yum.com/nutrition/documents/tb_nutrition.pdf
Check out their new "healthy" fresco items. The majority of them have half of your daily salt intake in just one lousy thing. Eat two bean burritos and you're already at 2400mg. I don't know about you, but when I used to go to taco bell it took atleast two bean burritos to fill me up. Not to mention you usually pound a soda too.
Soda is a whole other issue. All the sugar can eventually lead to insulin resistance aka type 2 diabetes. -
+1.... Stress will affect you in ways you didn't even think were possible.

I've met you before Alex, you seemed strung out. Try Meditation, it works for me. And say to hell with it every once in while. When I tell people to go eff off I feel awesome!, Stop worrying about everything. Stress is a killer.
