difference of monitor 50 and r50.
I have a polk rm10 satellite set. My receiver is 7.1 channel tho with running the rm10 set as 5.1. Would the monitor 50s work well with my system moving them to front l and r and moving the satellites to the surround back to have complete 7.1. Or how would the r50's work instead. Would these towers work well with my rm10 set or would it sound out of place. thanks

I would pick up the R50's, so in case it don't work you can use them in another room and be happy....I think you would be upset with the bass in the over all set up.Retired Onkyo 520 (returned broken HK 247)

i've got a 12" sub already so not worried about much bass.....what would be recommended for better front and left speakers for my setup. I don't need the best.

Have you considered a pair of RM30's or RM201's? I am thinking those are the perfect mates for the RM202 center that you have.
Just me...I do not think that the Monitor 50's or R50's are going to compliment your front stage as good as you think.SAMSUNG HL-S42 DLP

If you're concerned about a better music experience, a pair of Monitor floorstanders will probably be more satisfying than the RM10s (though I heard a set on the floor at Electronics-Expo and was SHOCKED at the clarity of the sats). However, the HT blending will be frustrating to impossible. You could lose the center and go phantom then use 4 satellites for surround and surround back.Currently listening to:

I am more concerned with movies for home theater and less for music. I like my setup but wanted to get a little more out of it. Would the rm30s sound good mentioned above. How much better are they than what i have. thanks for the help.

The RM30 houses two 4 1/2" inch woofers and would be a great upgrade to your front stage...larger cab, slightly larger drivers, more punch than you are getting from current fronts.
If the RM30 looks good to you, check out the RM40T's...seen some great prices on these, lately.SAMSUNG HL-S42 DLP

Good idea to have these off the floor...nothing like coming into a room and finding a speaker lying on it's side.
The 40's would be able to reach a bit lower than the 30's.SAMSUNG HL-S42 DLP
