Hello All,
I am new to the forum and wanted to say Hello. I have recently purchased a refurb pair of 60's from Polk Audio. I was seriously impressed with the looks right out of the box. After years and years of Bose cubes and surround sound color, I got a Harman-Kardon 3485 2 channel and these Polks. Wow...what a difference. The only thing is that I continue to hear something scratchy in the high end, and was wondering if anyone else notices this sound. Maybe I am so used to the Bose mud, that I am finally hearing "distortion in the instruments" and well...reality? I know these are mid range intensive and bright....I was just curious!

I had some Polk Monitor 60's. The "brightness" didn't really bother me unless I was listening to "bright" music or heavy metal rock.
For most stuff, these speakers sound really good, especially with a solid amp. I think the 3485 qualifies as a solid amp.
What are you using as a source? Maybe try a different pair of ICs or speaker cables to see if that would help tame the sound. . . or, turn the volume down a bitStereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand
Bedroom: Samsung HPR-4252, Toshiba HD-A2, HK 3480, Signal Cable, AQ speaker cable, Totem Dreamcatchers, SVS PB10-NSD, URC MX-850 -
I've got a pr. They're good speakers. Check out 'humptoomuch' on youtube and see what they CAN sound like:D
Hopefully, mine will sound that good after this weekend.
BTW, Welcome to the forumI refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -
Thanks for the input!! I think that after some break-in these will slide into their own. I really want the RTi A9's and they are going on Polk's Ebay store for INSANELY low prices right now....712.00 and 715.00 so far for a pair!! Yeah they may be refurbs, but my 60's came in looking brand new!!
