Design Software for Mac?

Ok. I think I have narrowed down my camera selection (thanks guys) and now I am looking for a program that I can use on my Macbook Pro to assist me in designing my rooms. (Interior design). I am looking for something where I can layout a room and add accessories, colors, furniture and lighting to an existing room photo.
As long as their is some kind of 'For Dummies' book on it I can do it. I taught myself to read music and play the piano so how hard can it be to learn a program? (probably very ) It should be beginner friendly, however.
Anyhoo, I would like something that would give me a framework to move up to as I progress in this. I don't want to relearn later down the road.
Maybe some of you Polksters have some experience?

AutoCad is still the most popular for that, which is slowly moving to SolidWorks. That may be too much for you, though, and since you're on a Mac it's a moot point without Bootcamp. Architosh works great for Mac and LiveInterior3D is also for Mac.

Do you mean AutoCad is losing it's popularity to SolidWorks or it is becoming SolidWorks?Sharp Elite 70

I deal with a lot of engineers and I get more and more requests for our drawings to be submitted in SolidWorks if we can. My engineers are asking for it here, but it's expensive (from a business standpoint) and you need to computers that can handle it.
It's nice because it gives you 3D modeling which eliminates possible unknowns prior to production. Autodesk has Inventor, but I haven't heard much about it.
I don't know what kind of interior design you're doing, but if you'll be working with architechts at all I would go with one of the beefier programs like AutoCad, SolidWorks, or Architosh. -
bootcamp is free, it's an integrated part of leopard and can be downloaded to be used with tiger.
parallels is not free, but that's only for running two operating systems at the same time and switching between the two. -
I just saw this thread while looking for something else. Would this work for you?
