Hey everyone. Just was able to pick up some RTi10s and I'm thinking I might need a separate amp (running an Onkyo 705). I could bi amp but was wondering if anyone had experience with this combination or could point me in the right direction for good amps. I'm a college student, so I do have a budget.

check out audiogon.com and look for used Outlaw Audio, Adcom, Parasound, Sunfire, and Rotel amps to name a few. All are great amps that should'nt break the bank. a solid 200wpc will hold you over well.

you might want to consider and adcom 535,, I know that they are rated at 60-65 watts per channel +/-,,,but it will surprise you,,and they can be had for 100-125,, check on your local craigslist, agon,,or post a WTB here,,if you don't like it,,you can always get your money back from selling it,,,otherwise, and adcom 555 will do it for about 300.00 +/-,, good luck, and have fun.
JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

What bikerboy said, that is a nice amp and the B&K pairs nicely with the RTi series. There is also a 5 channel amp on Audiogon for a little more money. It would help if we knew what your budget is.

Thanks everyone for the input. $400 would have to be my cap for an amp.

That B&K would be nice. Another one to llok out for would be a Carver m1.0t. Besides Agon, check eBay too. Find as much power as you can afford form any of the afformentioned brands and you'll be fine. Just remember "As people are walking all the time, in the same spot, a path appears."

I'd recommend an Emotiva. I have the LPA-1 which is their modest amp at 125wpc x 6 ch. It is a phenomenal amp and easily drives my RTi10s to their full potential. Everyone here is big on the 200wpc amps...I actually tried a few of them (bought 2 and borrowed 2)..there was no improvement over the LPA-1 at the volumes I listened at (up to about 100dB). The LPA-1 had bass that was just as strong and a soundstage that was better than most of the other amps I tried. It was also $500 for 6-7 channels.

Everyone here is big on used amps..and they're ok...but the Emotiva is a tremendous value and a high quality product. I'm not convinced that used amps in the same price range offer anything more...and no matter what anyone here may tell you, used is used. I've seen too many amps with blown channels or "factory freshening" for me to believe that they are faultless products. Nice to have a warranty.

Good luck and I hope you find something you enjoy.

If you're perfectly happy and love the sound of the RTi10's, what amp would you go for ? I for one love how the RTi10's sound, there's no brightness for me even with my Yammy AVR.
I should've listened way back in 2008, they told me I'd go broke... they were right

Have same (onk 705/RTi10s) Just bought a Parasound 2x250 amp: (model 2250) very nice with the with the 10's. Don't imagine older models terribly different so you may want to consider the Parasound models with similar power. There's been lots of positive feedback on the B&K's, I just don't have any experience with these...
    LR Setup:
    Polk RTi10's, RTi6's, CSiA6 (5 ch setup)
    Onkyo 705 & Denon 3808ci Receiver, Onk 875
    Parasound 2250 Amp
Sony 26" KDL series Bravia LCD
    Panny DMR-EH75 Recorder
Panny DVD-F87 (5 disk DVD player)
    NAD T585 (DVD/SACD)
    Yamaha DVD-C961 (5 disk SACD/DVD)
    SciAnt Explorer 8500HD Cable Box
    Orig & 5Gen iPods, , Wii

    Plans/Fantasies:
    • 400 disk player that handles ALL formats, sounds as good as NAD with Panasonic interface & compatability.

Aragon 2004, run you $450-$500 used, and you won't ever have to look back.

If you are going with the LPA-1, there are a couple for sale at the Emotiva forum, for $400.00 plus shipping.

And, the 5 year warranty on this amp is transferable.
