Opinion on Subwoofer as an end table

Just my 2 cents in case anybody was curious (YMMV depending on your room). I have an Outlaw LFM-1 Plus used as an end table for my recliner for the past six months. Too localized. The sub would always call attention to itself unless I turn the volume way down only to miss the bass if I was sitting anywhere else. In the end, I moved it up front near a corner and next to my left LSi15. Bass management is handled by my AVR (crossover: 60, signal turned up a bit, all speakers on small) and bypassed on the sub and the Power is On instead of Standby. Now, the sub disappears but I get the deep thumping of a chopper flyby when used for home theatre and music sounds richer.

My wife tried to turn ours into an end table, and I said no.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

Hee hee. That's what happened to me but I had to say yes to get the approval to purchase the sub.

    No No No

Your cool beer will condensate moisture in the air will dammage your sub. After 5 drinks you will spill your beer on it.

It may be fun to see how the water move while the sub is pounding.

If you listen to music at any sort of volume it's a bad idea.

Cool, fats. My main HT sub is an end table and it is localizable, too. Wish I had room to put mine up front. Glad to hear yours sounds better in its new location.

I lucked out. Wife hinted at changing the decor in the living room and I said hell yes. I moved everything. That was the only way to make the sub fit up front. Thanks to whoever invented those furniture moving discs (8 for $10@home depot). My audio rack will sit on them forever (screw sonics, I ain't breakin' my back).
