    You're nuts, they look awesome! Much better than the garish silver/red/yellow color scheme! Kind of a SR Jr. I like it! The grilles look pretty slick too with the silver/black color combo.

    In our good/ better/ best line- up, the Mobile Monitor replaces Momo as "better."

    Some pieces are already shipping, and the rest will be pretty soon.

    yeah, they look pretty sweet. I think it might even look a little too much like the SR line. ;)

    That pic looks like a subwoofer. The midrange speakers appear to be the same material as the current Polk/MOMO line - I believe its carbon fiber.

    I like the SR's and I think they look very upscale but the grille on the new MM woofer in the picture looks like some kind of cheap packaging to me. I just don't like it. Between the grille and the fat surround, the cone looks pretty tiny. Otherwise the speaker itself is not exciting at all. I guess from another post the mids are carbon like the Momo's which I do like the look of, so that would be cool. I just don't like the grille. The color combo is OK with me, just not the look.

    I agree that the yellow/red Momo look is kind of garish and only works in some settings, but it was racy. I don't know what these are, but racy or exciting aren't it. At least not for me. I can tell the marketing dept. is going for a different demographic with this one, I guess only the bean counters at Polk will ultimately know if they made the right decision or not. ;)

    BTW I am nuts! :)

    Yes, that picture is of a subwoofer.

    The cones of the mids aren't carbon fiber, although we showed some pictures like that long ago.

    I think they look pretty damn good personally. The grill does look a little cheap but the speaker itself looks sharp. They do resemble the SR's and thats just fine by me as the SR's are gorgeous. Since Im well on my way to making the SR's famous in the SQ lanes (:D ) Im sure itll help the sales of the MM's having them look like my beloved SR's.

    Sorry about digging up a one-month+ old thread but I had to comment. I think the grill looks darn nice.

    In fact, I wouldn't mind using them on my Aura MR6.1's as they would compliment my interior nicely.

    I just joined this forum as I'm about to buy a set of Polk MOMO 690's for my wife's Toyota FJ Cruiser. They'll be getting 80 watts from an old US Acoustics USX-2080 that I had lying around.

    Sensitivity is 94db @ 2.83 V? What's that mean? I thought sensitivity was measured at 1 watt/unit distance? Maybe that's only a home audio thing?

    Also, why are they 6.75" speakers as opposed to 6.5? Are most car speakers actually 6.75"?

    Where do you see 2.83V?

    Most GMs are 6.75". Other than that, no, most are 6.5s. But with a baffle, which should be done regardless, they'll easily fit in a 6.5 hole.

    The MM6501 are like the db6501, a slightly oversized cone (6.75"), that fits in a hole that the old 6500 systems would (6.5"). The idea is one speaker that covers both applications. With the benefit of a slightly larger cone, better low- end.

    p = V^2 / R

    watts = volts square / ohms

    watts = 2.83^2 / 2.7 ( assuming MMs are 2.7 ohms )

    watts = 3

    hence the sensitivity is rated at 3 watts at unit lenght

    So would that account for the higher sensitivity rating or are all car speakers rated at 3 watts/unit length?

    im not sure about car speakers, most home speakers are 8ohms, and calculating sensitivity at 2.83 volts is the same as 1 watt per unit length in that case.
    i dunno y polk rated MMs at 3watts, atleast that how it looks, someone wanna clearify?

    For the guys commenting on the "look" of the woofer/Grille. That picture is of the SLA prototype, IE its all plastic, and painted to look like the real deal.... Josh more than likely painted it ...
