RM7SATB Speakers
I'm considering moving my "extra" two RM101's from my dining room to my living room so I can have a 7:1 system instead of the 5:1 system I have. Right now I have three RM202's for front and center speakers and two other RM101's as back speakers. My living room amp is a Denon AVR-887.
I use my "extra" two RM101's with a stereo amp when I watch TV in here while I'm computing. Would these RM7SATB speakers be "OK" for my dining room? Or would it be better to make them as my surround back speakers and move the two RM101's in the living room to the surround speakers and replace them with the RM7SATB ones instead. By doing this, will my 5:1 sound as good as it did before and with surround back added it will sound better. Of course this is assuming the DVD I want to watch at the time outputs 7:1.
I'm assuming that because they all start with "RM" that they're timbre balanced(?).
How hard would it be to go into Denon's menu and figure out what's needed to "fire" them off properly? Would I have to recalibrate the entire system again?

If anyone really cares, I'm not impressed with the RM7SATB speakers. They don't replace the RM101's like I was told they did. I replaced them with my back RM101's and the most I could get them to "fire" was 71 on my sound pressure meter. So I backed down my RM201s to 71 (instead of 77) and I can't hear them like I was able to when the RM101's were there (with a 5.1 input).Be gentle, I'm new to all this...

You have two choices then. Replace them with your RM101's in the dining room and test them there or go back to the store and get your money back and buy two speakers of a different brand for the dining room.Be gentle, I'm new to all this...

Hi Sansui,
Your probably not getting much response as most people have not had these speakers in their setups. I used to use the equivalent of the RM 300 for fronts now they are surround backs and the RM 200s for surrounds, where they still are today.
Seems like the RM7Sat are underwhelming I would consider keeping the stronger speakers in your HT setup if you value HT more.

I just don't understand how they can be considered replacements for the RM 101's (as I was told) if I can't them adjust them to 77 on my spl meter like my RM101s and RM202s were adjusted to. My Denon 887 only allows up to +12 db for adjustments. I got the same results both from my Avia DVD and my amp's test tone.
The more I think about it, there's no way I could go with another speaker line. I like my Polks too much.Be gentle, I'm new to all this...
