so i was wondering. i found this set of left right speakers from polk audio. the thing is they dont have a dial/knob for power/volume level. so even if i leave the system volume at 0, connect the speakers, then increase the volume. i cant hear for ****. i mean i can hear but its not as loud as it shold be. so is there something special i need for these types of speakers? also it doesnt have an input for a power adapter. just the wire for the left and right speaker which intertwines into one input line. i took some pictures of them since either of them dont have any model numbers or anything. the only words on them are polk audio and made in china ;/
thanks for any help.

Those are PC speakers. Came with either HP or Compaq. IF you notice on one of the side's, there are little hooks. Those were used to mount the speakers to the side of the monitor.
As far as i remember they are passive, so no built in power or volume. Just use them off a pc and control volume with the volume control panel. I dont see them being used as much more than intented with a pc.

These are old polk speakers that used to be shipped with HP or Dell PC. in the old days the sound cards used to also put out the power for the speakers, now most sound cards only put out the audio and most speakers use an external source for electricity.
unless you find a sound card or an audio source that can also provide power you will not be able to use these set.Current HT setup
