Hey everyone-
I am looking for a good LaserDisc player that someone has to sell that I could pick up cheap. I cannot afford a DVD player right now (well, not a good one, and I will not buy a cheap DVD player) and I would like to watch something other that VHS when I am at school. I am not looking for anything too fancy, and I dont have a preference for any brands, but if it had automatic side change and a remote that would be awesome. When I say cheap I dont mean horrendously cheap, just trying to let you guys know I cannot afford one of the $1000 dollar units I have seen for sale.
If anyone has a few movies to sell let me know cause I would be interested in those too. Help me start my LD collection! Thanks, enjoy your weekend, and take it easy. Mike

I have a denon la-3000 I might be interested in selling with about 10 discs, mostly sci-fi. The unit is in mint condition.
The only thing I have ever done to it was put a new disc drive belt on. -

Are you really wanting a Laser Disc player as compared to a DVD player? You say "start" your collection, so I'm just curious why you'd be wanting to get into a 10 year old technology over the newer DVD format.
Also, how much ARE you looking to spend on a player? comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
Hey- thanks for the replys.
Yeah I am sure I want to get into LaserDiscs, I think they are really cool. I dont see anything wrong with them, no matter how old the format is... and its more like 25 years rather than 10. I have seen a lot of good deals on the Discs, and the players as well, and I have always wanted one for myself and I decided to take the plunge. When I but a DVD player it will be a really nice one, which I cannot afford right now. I would rather spend $600 on a nice DVD player and enjoy it for both music and movies rather than buy a DVD player for $150 and have it leaving something to be desired. I am not using LaserDisc as a replacement or substitute, but rather just something I am interested in and would like to start my own collection.
As for pricing, do you have a LaserDisc player for sale? Or were you just wondering? I have had quite a few good deals come by way of email to me and the really interesting ones have been around $50, which is the most I can afford to spend. thanks again for the responces everyone, and take it easy. Happy new year. MikeAlso, how much ARE you looking to spend on a player? -
I dont' have one for sale. I was confused because it sounded like the amount of money that you were looking to spend was pretty high and would be more justified if getting a DVD player instead......
No worries.. Good luck finding one.......comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
I have the following laserdisc movies for sale. If you are interested, give me an offer at kn505@yahoo.com.
1. Mad Dog and Glory (brand new, still in shrink wrap)
2. Mr. Baseball (brand new, still in shrink wrap)
3. Die Hard (very good condition)
4. Die Hard 2 (very good condition) -
Man, save up and buy a DVD player. They are not THAT expensive. Some of the best ones are between $300 and $400.

I am :-) the point isnt replacement, as stated above by me, but it is just something I am interested in... The only reason I even mentioned DVD players was because I didnt want people telling me to just buy a DVD player instead. I want a laserdisc player. I dont need a DVD player of my own, as I am moving back home and my dad has a really good setup, but his laserdisc player is almost as old as I am. I just have always like them, and I want one of my own. I will have my own DVD player eventually, just not now. Laserdiscs go for a few bucks on eBay now, and the players are cheap too... but thanks for the suggestion. Take it easy. Mike

6 months????? No way bro, I have been here since 2001, which is a year and 6 months. Thats as long as anyone else here on the board. I just started posting recently, but I have been reading forever. The reason is because I have been a member of a few forums, but none were very kind to youngsters regardless of the amount of education or knowledge on the particular subject. I decided to start posting because I liked the people and the atmosphere here, and the elitist know-it-alls that $hit on everyone that knows less than they do seems to be at a minimum here.
I do realize that laserdisc is obsolete, and the movies arent in production any more, but I dont see why my wanting one is funny, or why I should be criticized for it. I want a LD player for the same reason I still (along with MANY other people) have the original Nintendo. So, yeah it is kind of funny that I want one but whatever I still think they are cool. Take it easy everyone and enjoy the week. I know I wont... first week back at school.:) Mike -
No one is criticizing ya - Just having a little fun.I do realize that laserdisc is obsolete, and the movies arent in production any more, but I dont see why my wanting one is funny, or why I should be criticized for it.
And ya it's pretty funny.
I'm sure glad you realize that it's an obsolete format.
For me - cheap movies - just not enough. -
I need a new calculator...More later,

Yeah, I see what you mean. For me the cheap format wouldnt do too much either, if it wasnt for the fact that my dad has a TON of Laserdiscs. His player is just shot, and it would be cool to watch them again. He has some real classics like all the Star Wars, and a bunch of the Criterion Collection too. Really this was just for fun, and dont worry I didnt take offense to your comments, I knew I would get them. Take it easy. Mike
