Computer Question: Using Palm VII w/Vista

Sorry for the dumb question, but is there any way for me to use my Palm VIIx handheld with Windows Vista?

I understand that I need a USB to serial adapter to connect the docking station to my computer, but before I buy this I want to make sure that it will work. Also, the CD that I have that came with the handheld does not have Windows Vista drivers.

So will the adapter work? And will my old drivers work in Vista?

Check out this page on Palm's website, maybe you can find some info there?
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

When I hooked up my Pocket PC the drivers loaded automatically, and synced with outlook before I could say Boo! Try just the USB cable first without any software. The new sync software in Vista is now called "Sync center"

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

The Palm VIIx is going to be a whole different story than a PPC. I'd check other Palm forums and look for official Palm driver support. My guess would be no.

Thanks, I've been trying to get it to work though...

Unfortunately I cancelled the Palm.net Wireless service many years ago so this handheld can't get Internet access either :(

Do you want a PDA/phone or just PDA?

Well, which would be better? I already have a phone. And keep in mind, I'm a college student, so I'm on a budget here :)

Budget smudget. I would look for a used Dell Axim 51v. Thats pretty much the best PDA out there, and its about 3 years old now, so you should be able to find a good deal on it. I got one similar to it my last year of college and I get tearful when I think of how much easier school would have been had I gotten it earlier.

They still make PDAs that aren't phones? Huh.

Thanks, although my Palm VIIx has been working fine for 9 years now, and it hasn't showed any signs of it giving up!!

That may be. I had a Palm IIIx until I dropped it and the screen cracked. That was when I jumped into PPC land. Dropping that Palm was a blessing. You can do so much more with PPCs.

My Palm VIIx is virtually indestructible:) AFAIK, it was purchased in late 1999 and still works perfectly fine to this day!!
