DAC/Preamp from Monarchy Audio model 18B. This is an audiophile quality unit from Monarchy Audio that is highly regarded and received many great reviews. This unit sounds excellent and cosmetically looks great.
"The Model 18b is designed to work either with or without a preamplifier. You can use it as a stand alone D/A converter with its fixed output, or run a power amplifier from its variable output. If you play CD's only, this piece will allow you to bypass the preamplifier all together. Forget everything you've heard about lack of dynamics and bass when going direct. That only happens because those other devices were not designed for the job. This model has been designed from the start to fill this exact role. It will drive any amplifier on the market to perform to the fullest capability of your system."
