The lovely Wendi purchased my Carver C-1 preamp through The Stereo Trading Outlet (www.tsto.com). The reason that she bought THAT particular preamp is that it claimed to be mint and come with the original box and manual (I'm anal about things like that). Well, it isn't what I'd call mint and the sumbitch didn't have the original box or manual. The preamp works fine, but I am bothered by the misrepresentation.
They are looking into it and Wendi is looking for the invoice. I guess we will see what happens but it just pisses me off.

Oh, I got the preamp. At least they didn't take my money, hold it for a while and want to send it back in installments OR sell it to someone else at a higher price.
Correct, I guess I do have much to be thankful for.

UPDATE!
I got an email back from TSTO, Michael Leshner, who essentially said he took full responsibility for the mixup. He remembered telling the lovely Wendi that the ad did indeed say that the original box and manual were included. He said he neglected to call back when he found out that they didn't and said he would immediately reimburse us whatever we thought was appropriate for the mixup and would 30.00 sound OK? Payable in any form we would like.
Wow, so I never expected such a prompt response! I found a C-1 manual on ebay for 10.00 so I got enough left over for a sixer of good brew.
All is well that ends well!
