This is a cross post of sorts. I started a karma thread in the clubhouse about getting free shows. I've decided to use Megaupload to accomplish this. Anyone who wants to check out the shows can go to the blog I've created (see my sig). At the end of each entry there will be a link(s) that you click and DL the show. All shows will be in FLAC format and there is a link explaining FLAC as well as the free DL necessary to use it. It's simple and painless even for the uninitiated.

Megaupload is free but you will be very limited as to how much you can DL in 24 hours. As far as I can tell it's about 350-500MB and then it will give you an error message telling you to wait 120min until you can DL again. If you keep up you won't have too many issues. As the shows get larger there will be more files and it will become a minor inconvenience. You can pay to get a Premier account and that allows unlimited uploads and downloads...........it's up to you.

Here's the link to my original post in the clubhouse for more background.

http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67971

There are about 15-20 or so that expressed interest but so far the DL's have been very few (about 6). Is this going to work for everyone interested?

Give me some feedback if you want. I want to make this easy and enjoyable for those interested. Even if your just slightly curious give it a shot.

You can still use Megaupload it just is capped at so many Mb's of download for the "free" account. Again this isn't going to be a massive upload. Steady but not massive. :)

I'm downloading it now. Hopefully I installed all the plug ins correctly so I can play it on Windows Media Player. The links to the FLAC site were very helpful to have on the page.

    Thanks!

The great thing is with FLAC Frontend you can load the files and decode them to .WAV and burn them on cdr very easily and in only a couple steps.

New shows posted. How is the RAR file working out for everyone? Any difficulties? I can post them as Zip files if that's more manageable for everyone. WINRAR is my default and sometimes I forget others might not be familiar.

Not that I have downloaded anything but I would keep them in WinRar. It's easy to use plus you are suppling the content, so people should try to learn WinRar, instead of you trying to accomodate people. Plus Winrar is becoming the standard now any ways. Very easy to use proggy.

Sure, just be aware that the info I provide in most cases is just what's been given to me. I try to research any sources that are unknown, but mistakes can be made, and sometimes at best it's a guessing game if the info isn't provided by the person I get the tracks from.

Most of this stuff is what I've dl'd over the years as I'd need to be a millionaire and have a lot of time on my hands to track down the "physical" products. Most if not all of this type of stuff is extremely limited runs and commands a very high price on the collector market for the "real thing".

I'll try and provide as much info as I can when uploading. Usually there is artwork and .txt file to go with each one. That should give you the info you need.

    Share.......share.......share.

I would also appreciate it if no one posts the link to my blog on high traffic, public sites. You can certainly share it with people that have an interest, and I know this is a high traffic public site but it's the only one I have posted the link from.

So lately I've noticed the number of DL's decreasing. Does this thing still have legs or are people just bored with it? I absolutely don't mind doing it but if only a few to no people are going to participate there is really no point in spending time doing this.

I have had very little feedback and if there are some issues preventing people other than lack of interest I'd like to know.

I have another ready to go, but the last upload has zero DL's according to Megaupload stats.

If this thing has run it's course, that's fine I just need to know because I'm primarily doing the blog for those here that want the music.

hey heiney. i am still in. didnt know there was new stuff. i am a little slow to DL because of the interface and because i am not real good about checking for updates.

*i* am digging it, though, and i hope you will continue. and if not, maybe i can slide you a small stack of cdrs and a few bones or something. i will probably never get another opportunity to hear (much less own) this stuff.

    thanks again!

    GREAT!

It's the best so far to surface and Terry knows what he's doing. Just the fact that he got chosen to attend was huge. On the Steve Hoffman forum there are some strong rumors the show might be released soon as Kevin Shirley (same guy who helped with the official DVD) is working on a secret project. Many speculate it might be the 02 show, but who knows for sure.

A new post is up! A really great show.

Perhaps after listening to this show those that have DL'd can discuss which shows they like best so far and why. Maybe what stands out in some of the various shows as well as discussing the progression of the band.

I know it's summer and many people get busy, but some discussion is always nice.

2nd Japanese tour show is up. Pay attention because the next handful of shows coming up are must haves.

The first are Kevin Shirley's multi-track mixdown working tapes for Southampton University 1-22-73. These were mixed down from a multi-track recording for possible official release. Probably around the time How The West Was Won was in the works, probably one of the alternative choices.

The 1973 European Tour has some of the best playing ever by the band and Page, perhaps by any guitarist to date.

    Stay tuned ;)

The latest show on my blog. Is a superb multi track working tape of the entire concert at The Old Refectory, Southampton University.

If you've been on the fence or disappointed in the sound quality of previous entries this is near completely mixed professional master. The sound is incredible and you can play it on your main rig and play it loud. Do yourself a favor and dl it. You won't regret it.

    Enjoy :)

It should be up later tonight if I don't get side tracked again :p.

Danke Vienna 3-16-73; Stadthalle Vienna Austria. It's a matrix of 2 audience recordings and a partial soundboard. You don't want to miss this one as the playing will make your jaw drop.

Essen in now up. What a fantastic display of musicianship.

The version of Dazed and Confused from this concert has left me speechless. It's the single most breathtaking display of cohesiveness I have ever heard. It's brilliantly amazing. Maybe they did sell their souls to the devil ;). I don;t think I have heard a tighter more devastating version than this one during this concert.

The whole concert is just awe inspiring, but DAC is just spectacular as is the WLL-medley.

Enjoy! If you don't enjoy this you have no business listening to music. This is the greatest "Effing" band ever!!!!!!!!!
